London Olympic Stadium
London Stadium (formerly and also known as Olympic Stadium and the Stadium at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park) is a multi-purpose outdoor stadium at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in the Stratford district of London. Michelle Stilwell
Michelle Stilwell (''nee'' Bauknecht; born July 4, 1974) is a Canadian wheelchair racer and politician. She is the only female Paralympic athlete to win gold medals in two separate summer sport events. Stilwell was elected to the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia as a BC Liberal candidate for Parksville-Qualicum in the 2013 provincial election. She represented Canada at the 2000 Summer Paralympics, 2008 Summer Paralympics, and 2012 Summer Paralympics. Early life and education Stilwell was born on July 4, 1974, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. While attending River East Collegiate, she broke her neck from a fall and became an incomplete quadriplegic. Marieke Vervoort
Marieke Vervoort (10 May 1979 – 22 October 2019) was a Belgian Paralympic athlete with reflex sympathetic dystrophy. She won several medals at the Paralympics, and she received worldwide attention in 2016 when she revealed that she was considering euthanasia. Career Vervoort began her career in sports playing wheelchair basketball, then took up swimming, and competed in triathlons. She was paratriathlon world champion in 2006 and 2007, and in 2007, competed in the Ironman Triathlon in Hawaii. She retired from triathlons when her condition became worse. Instead, she started blokarting and then wheelchair racing. In the 2012 London Paralympic Games, she won the gold medal in the T52 100m wheelchair race, and the silver medal in the T52 200m wheelchair race. Kerry Morgan (athlete)
Kerri Morgan (born June 11, 1974) is an American Paralympian T52 wheelchair racer. She won the 800 m event at the 2011 IPC Athletics World Championships. Personal life Morgan was born in 1974 in Port Jefferson, New York. She completed a degree in psychology at Texas Christian University, later gaining a master's degree in occupational therapy from Washington University in St. Louis. She later worked as an intern at the White House before taking on the role as occupational therapist at Washington University. Sporting career Morgan did not set out to be a wheelchair sprint athlete, preferring to play wheelchair rugby and became the first woman to make the U.S. rugby team. Cassie Mitchell (born June 8, 1981) is an American engineer and Paralympic cyclist and track and field athlete. Early life Mitchell was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma, and graduated from high school in Warner in 1999 as valedictorian of her class; shortly thereafter, she developed neuromyelitis optica, which left her paralyzed from the chest down with limited movement of her arms and hands and with permanent double vision. In 2004, she graduated from Oklahoma State University with a BS degree in chemical engineering. She later earned a PhD in biomedical engineering from both Emory and Georgia Tech universities.
