Georgi Atanasov (composer)
Georgi Atanasov ( bg, Георги Атанасов) (May 6, 1882 – November 17, 1931), was a Bulgarian composer. A native of Plovdiv, Atanasov began formal musical studies in Bucharest at the age of 14. From 1901 until 1903 he studied composition at the Rossini Conservatory in Pesaro with Pietro Mascagni. Upon receiving his diploma with the title of "maestro", he adopted the word as his formal style of address. He returned to Bulgaria soon after, becoming well known as a leader of military bands. He conducted the Sofia National Opera for the 1922/23 season. Atanasov was the first professional Bulgarian opera composer. His style is Italianate, melodic and bearing the influence of folk idioms. He alternated contrasting musical numbers to achieve dramatic effect in his works. Dimo Atanasov ( bg, Димо Атанасов; born 24 October 1985) is a Bulgarian footballer who plays as a defender or midfielder. Career In June 2003, Atanasov joined Lokomotiv Sofia on a four-year contract for an undisclosed fee. On 12 November 2003, he made his Lokomotiv debut in a 3–0 victory against Sliven 2000 in the Bulgarian Cup Third Round, coming on as a substitute for Radoslav Ivanov. Atanasov spent 7 seasons of his career at the club of Sofia, playing in 142 games and scoring 14 goals in A PFG. Nikola Atanasov ( bg, Никола Атанасов) was a Macedonians (Bulgarians), Bulgarian revolutionary and a politician from the eastern part of Macedonia (region), Macedonia. Biography Nikola Atanasov was born to a poor family in the village of Fotovishta, today known as Ognyanovo, Blagoevgrad Province, Ognyanovo in Garmen Municipality, then part of the Ottoman Empire. He won a scholarship and finished the Bulgarian Theological School in Constantinople. He returned in Macedonia and entered the Internal Macedonian Revolutionary Organization, Internal Macedonian-Adrianople Revolutionary Organization (IMARO) by joining the revolutionary bands of Stoyan Filipov and Stoyan Malchankov. Zhivko Atanasov ( bg, Живко Атанасов; born 3 February 1991) is a Bulgarian professional footballer who plays as a centre back for Cherno More Varna and the Bulgaria national team. Career Atanasov began his career with Levski Sofia. In the winter of 2012, Atanasov impressed Cherno More manager Stefan Genov as a trialist during Cherno More's training camp in Turkey. Doncho Atanasov ( bg, Дончо Атанасов; born on 2 April 1983) is a former Bulgarian footballer, who played as a left winger. Career Doncho Atanasov came from the youth system of Beroe Stara Zagora, and was called up to the first team squad for the 2001–02 season. On 9 February 2002, he made his A PFG debut as he replaced Krum Bibishkov in the 69th minute of their 0–2 home loss against Litex Lovech. He only made 11 appearances for Beroe's first team before moving to Armeets Sliven in June 2002. On 19 July 2014, Atanasov scored the only goal in Haskovo's 1:0 victory over reigning A PFG champions Ludogorets Razgrad to provide his team with a winning start in the new league season. Georgi Atanasov (politician)
Georgi Ivanov Atanasov ( bg, Георги Иванов Атанасов; 25 July 1933 – 31 March 2022) was a Bulgarian politician and a leading member of the Bulgarian Communist Party who served as Prime Minister from 1986 to 1990. Atanasov supported the move to oust Todor Zhivkov as Chairman of the State Council, joining Petar Mladenov in leading the opposition. In November 1992, he was sentenced to ten years imprisonment for embezzlement, although he was pardoned in 1994. Atanasov died at 31 March 2022, at the age of 88 in Sofia. Atanas Atanasov ( bg, Атанас Атанасов; born 14 July 1985 in Pleven) is a Bulgarian footballer who plays as a defender. His role on the pitch is left wingback. Career Atanasov started to play football at Spartak Pleven, but at the age of 18 moved to Chernomorets Burgas and during season 2003-04 made his debut in the A PFG. After that he played also in Vidima-Rakovski Sevlievo and Belite orli. In January 2008 Atanasov returned to his first club Spartak Pleven. Some six months later signed a contract with Beroe Stara Zagora and during season 2008-09 with the club he became champion of the second division.
