152 Atala
Atala (minor planet designation: 152 Atala) is a large main belt asteroid that was discovered by brothers Paul Henry and Prosper Henry on 2 November 1875, but the discovery was credited to Paul. It is a type D asteroid, meaning that it is composed of carbon, organic rich silicates and possibly water ice. The asteroid is named for the eponymous heroine of the 1801 novella '' Atala'' by François-René de Chateaubriand. The Henry brothers also named the last of their discoveries, 186 Celuta, after another Chateaubriand heroine. Both Atala and Céluta are American Indian fictional characters.; An occultation of a star by Atala was observed from Japan on 11 March 1994. Subsequent occultations have been observed as recently as 2006. Atala spa is an Italian manufacturer of bicycles and exercise equipment. History The company was started by Angelo Gatti in 1907 and formally incorporated in Italy in 1921 by Cesare Rizzato. Atala (district)
Atala is a neighbourhood in the northeast part of the city of Tampere, Finland, a few kilometers to the east from the border of the Kangasala city. Its neighboring neighborhoods are Holvasti in the south, Linnainmaa in the southwest and Tasanne in the north. The district was named after Ata Oy, which was founded in 1937 and manufactures spiral bevel gears. In the Atala district, there is a small shopping center with K-Market grocery store, pharmacy and barber's shop, primary school with grades 1–6, and two kindergartens. The services of the health center were transferred to the Linnainmaa district in 2017. ( en, Atala, or The Loves of two Indian savages in the desert, italic=yes, link=yes) is an early novella by French author François-René de Chateaubriand, first published on 12 germinal IX (2 April 1801). The story is told from the point of view of the 73-year-old hero, Chactas, whose story is preserved by an oral tradition among the Seminoles. The work, at least partially inspired by his travels in North America, reflects the eighteenth-century French Romanticism and exoticism of its time and went through five editions in its first year. It was adapted frequently for stage, and translated into many languages. Along with ''René'', ''Atala'' began as a discarded fragment from a long prose epic the author had composed between 1793 and 1799, ''Les Natchez'', which would not be made public until 1826. ''Eumaeus atala'', also known as the Atala butterfly or coontie hairstreak, is a small colorful butterfly in the family Lycaenidae. It is found in southeastern Florida (including the Florida Keys) in the United States, and the Bahamas, Cuba, and the Cayman Islands in the West Indies. Its coloration and habits are unique among butterflies within its range. History The species was originally described by the Cuban zoologist Felipe Poey. Saint Attala
Atala or Attala (died 622) was a disciple of Columbanus and his successor as abbot of Bobbio from 615. Attala was originally from Burgundy, and first became a monk at the abbey of Lérins. Displeased with the loose discipline prevailing there, he instead entered the abbey of Luxeuil, which had just been founded by Columbanus. When the latter was expelled from Luxeuil by King Theuderic II, Attala would have succeeded him as abbot, but preferred to follow him into exile. They settled on the banks of the river Trebbia, a little northeast of Genoa, where they together founded Bobbio. After the Columbanus' death in 615, Attala succeeded him as abbot. He and his monks suffered many hardships at the hands of King Arioald, who was an Arian and not a Catholic. As abbot, Attala insisted on strict discipline and when a large number of his monks rebelled, declaring his discipline too rigorous, he permitted them to leave the monastery. Léonise Valois
Léonise Valois (October 11, 1868 – May 20, 1936) was a Canadian poet and journalist. She was a pioneer in Canadian women's journalism and was the first French Canadian woman to publish a collection of poetry. Biography The daughter of physician Louis-Joseph-Avila Valois and Marie-Louise Bourque, she was born Marie-Attala-Amanda-Léonise Valois in Vaudreuil, Quebec. She studied with the Sisters of Saint Anne in Vaudreui and then continued her studies at the convent of the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary in Beauharnois. After completing her education in 1883, Valois worked as bookkeeper for her father's medical practice and helping him with his patients.
