Astrid Schwab
Astrid Schwab (née Leikvang, June 18, 1907 – November 2, 1997) was a Norwegian actress and stage director. Schwab was born in Kristiania (now Oslo), the daughter of the actor Ole Leikvang. She made her artistic breakthrough in 1934 at the Ole Bull Theater in Bergen. Schwab was later employed at the National Theater in Bergen, except for a stay at the New Theater from 1935 to 1936. Her major roles included Inès in Jean-Paul Sartre's '' No Exit'', Rebekka West in Henrik Ibsen's '' Rosmersholm'', the mother in Ibsen's '' Brand'', and Lavinia in Nils Kjær's ''Det lykkelige valg''. Among her successful stagings were various pieces such as William Shakespeare's ''A Midsummer Night's Dream'' and Eugène Ionesco's '' Rhinoceros''. Oslo
Oslo ( , , or ; sma, Oslove) is the capital and most populous city of Norway. It constitutes both a county and a municipality. Nils Kjær
Nils Kjær (11 September 1870 – 9 February 1924) was a Norwegian playwright, short story writer, essayist, literary critic and theatre critic. Personal life Kjær was born in Holmestrand as the son of Nils Henrik Kjær and Christine Smestad. He married translator and teacher Fredrikke Margrete ("Maggen") Dons in 1896. Career Kjær took his examen artium in 1890, and studied at the University of Oslo from 1890 to 1892. His first book was ''Essays; fremmede forfattere'' from 1895, a collection of articles published in ''Dagbladet'' and ''Kringsjaa''. He made his début as a playwright with the tragedy ''Regnskabets dag'' from 1902. His satirical comedy ''Det lykkelige valg'' from 1913 was successfully performed on several Scandinavian stages. ''Rhinoceros'' (french: Rhinocéros) is a play by Eugène Ionesco, written in 1959. The play was included in Martin Esslin's study of post-war avant-garde drama '' The Theatre of the Absurd'', although scholars have also rejected this label as too interpretatively narrow. Over the course of three acts, the inhabitants of a small, provincial French town turn into rhinoceroses; ultimately the only human who does not succumb to this mass metamorphosis is the central character, Bérenger, a flustered everyman figure who is initially criticized in the play for his drinking, tardiness, and slovenly lifestyle and then, later, for his increasing paranoia and obsession with the rhinoceroses. Eugène Ionesco (; born Eugen Ionescu, ; 26 November 1909 – 28 March 1994) was a Romanian-French playwright who wrote mostly in French, and was one of the foremost figures of the French avant-garde theatre in the 20th century. ''Brand'' is a play by the Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen. It is a verse tragedy, written in 1865 and first performed in Stockholm, Sweden on 24 March 1867. Brand is a priest who accepts the consequence of his choices, and is deeply bound to doing the "right thing". He believes primarily in the will of man, and lives by the belief "all or nothing". To make compromises is therefore difficult, or questionable. Brand's beliefs render him lonely, because those around him, when put to the test, generally cannot or will not follow his example. He is a young idealist whose main purpose is to save the world, or at least people's souls, but his judgment of others are harsh and unfair.
