Artipelag
Artipelag is an art museum located on the Stockholm archipelago, archipelago in Stockholm, Sweden. Opened in June 2012, the building was designed by the late architect Johan Nyrén to fit into the surrounding landscape. The building covers an area of approximately 10,000 square meters and includes 3,000 square meters of art galleries and has 22 acres of surrounding natural scenery. According to ''The New York Times'', the museum was the "brainchild of Björn Jakobson, who founded the Swedish infant-care products company Babybjörn in 1961, and his wife, Lillemor." The parent company Lillemor Design provided funding (approximately $69 million according to estimates in Swedish media. Notable exhibitions have included works by William Wegman (photographer), William Wegman and Candida Höfer. The artistic director of Artipelag is Bo Nilsson. Björn Jakobson
Björn Jakobson, (born 14 August 1934 in Stockholm) is a Swedish entrepreneur. In 1961, he started the company Babybjörn. The initial product was a bouncy chair that he acquired on a trip to the United States, He and his wife, the designer Lillemor Jakobson, are co-owners of Lillemor Design AB, the parent company of the group that includes Baby Björn. William Wegman (photographer)
William Wegman (born December 2, 1943) is an American artist best known for creating series of compositions involving dogs, primarily his own Weimaraners in various costumes and poses. Life and career Wegman originally intended to pursue a career as a painter. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in painting from Massachusetts College of Art and Design in 1965 and a Master of Fine Arts degree in painting from the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign in 1967. By the early 70s, Wegman's work was being exhibited in museums and galleries internationally. Candida Höfer
Candida Höfer (born 4 February 1944) is a German photographer. She is a former student of Bernd and Hilla Becher. Like other Becher students, Höfer's work is known for technical perfection and a strictly conceptual approach. From 1997 to 2000, she taught as professor at the Hochschule für Gestaltung, Karlsruhe. Höfer is the recipient of the 2018 Outstanding Contribution to Photography award, as part of the Sony World Photography awards. She is based in Cologne.
