Arthur Maskell
Arthur Thomas Maskell (28 March 1894 – 16 June 1970) was an Australian rules footballer who played for the Melbourne Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Family The son of Arthur Maskell (1849-1917), and Elizabeth Margaret Maskell (1856-1921), née Fuzzard, Arthur Thomas Maskell was born at Tatura, Victoria on 28 March 1894. He married Teresa Daphne Duggan (1894-1967) on 21 October 1916. They had three children: Edna Jean Maskell (b.1917), Kevin Joseph Maskell (b.1921), and Marie Teresa Maskell (b.1929). Football Recruited from Shepparton, he played on the half-back flank in his only senior VFL match for Melbourne, against University, at the MCG, on 28 June 1913, replacing the injured Norm McDougall. McDougall was fit enough to play in the following match, Maskell was "dropped", and the ''Herald's'' football correspondent noted that "Maskell Is not likely to play again with Melboune". Tatura
Tatura is a town in the Goulburn Valley region of Victoria, Australia, and is situated within the City of Greater Shepparton local government area, north of the state capital (Melbourne) and west of the regional centre of Shepparton. At the 2016 census, Tatura had a population of 4,669. During World War II, several internment camps were set up around Tatura by the Australian government. Four of these were for "enemy alien" civilians, and three were for prisoners of war. Between 1940 and 1947, there were 10,000 to 13,000 people in the internment camps at different times. With a large corporate and manufacturing presence within the town, Tatura is a major employer within the Goulburn Valley. Heidelberg is a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, northeast of Melbourne's central business district, located within the City of Banyule local government area. 1913 VFL Season
The 1913 VFL season was the 17th season of the Victorian Football League (VFL), the highest level senior Australian rules football competition in Victoria. The season featured ten clubs, ran from 26 April until 27 September, and comprised an 18-game home-and-away season followed by a finals series featuring the top four clubs. The premiership was won by the Fitzroy Football Club for the fifth time, after it defeated by 13 points in the 1913 VFL Grand Final. The Goulburn Valley Football Netball League is an Australian rules football and netball competition based in the Goulburn Valley region of Victoria, Australia. It is a member of the Victorian Country Football League and has won the Victorian Country Football Championships in 2003 and 2005.
