Arna-Bjørnar
Arna-Bjørnar Fotball is a Norwegian football club from Arna, Bergen. It was founded in late 2000 as a merger between the football branches from ''IL Bjørnar'' and ''Arna T&IL'', and replaced Bjørnar IL in the league system from 2001. The women's team has played since then in the '' Toppserien'' apart from the 2005 season when it was in the First divisjon. Prominent members of the women's team (2009) are goalkeepers Reidun Seth and Erika Skarbø, and Nigerian keeper Precious Dede brought in to cover while Skarbø recovers from a long-term wrist injury. Arna-Bjørnar has earned a reputation for developing young players and the squad includes the former and current Norway Under-19 captains, Maren Mjelde and Kristine Hegland, and prominent former Under-19 players Caroline Walde and Ingrid Ryland, both now Under-23 players, as well as senior international Madeleine Giske who played in the FIFA Women's World Cup 2007. Toppserien
The Toppserien is the top level of women's association football in Norway. It was founded in 1984. History Women's league football was introduced on a county basis in 1977. These leagues acted as qualification for the regional (South) league in 1979. Regional leagues were in operation until the formation of the First Division 1984, when the league was divided into three regions, Group Eastern-Norway (''Østlandet''), Group Western-Norway (''Vestlandet''), and Group Mid-Norway (''Trøndelag''). No teams from Northern-Norway (''Nord-Norge'') played, however. The winners of the three groups met each other for a play-off. Regional leagues for women had been played before 1984, and a championship play-off had been done between the winners of Mid-Norway and Eastern-Norway in 1983 (Trondheims-Ørn beat Setskog 2-1), but this championship was considered unofficial by the Football Association of Norway. 2021 Toppserien
The 2021 Toppserien was the 35th season of the highest women's football league in Norway. The season started on 22 May 2021 and ended on 13 November 2021. Sandviken won their first Toppserien title. Madeleine Giske
Madeleine Giske (born 14 September 1987) is a Norwegian football midfielder who currently plays for Toppserien team LSK Kvinner in Lillestrøm, Norway. She is also a member of the Norway women's national football team. Giske is the daughter of Anders Giske, a former professional footballer who captained the Norway national football team, as well as playing for clubs such as SK Brann, 1. FC Nürnberg, Bayer Leverkusen and 1. FC Köln. Career In 2003 as a 15-year-old Madeleine Giske joined the Bergen club IL Sandviken where she debuted in Division-1 on April 26. She was an immediate success and continued with the same club when it was promoted into the Toppserien in 2004, scoring eleven goals in that season and also in the next. Erika Skarbø
Erika Espeseth Skarbø (born 12 June 1987 in Ålesund) is a Norwegian football goalkeeper who currently plays for Arna-Bjørnar in Norway's Toppserien, where she is trained by Reidun Seth. She has also played for IL Hødd and Fortuna Ålesund. Skarbø is also a member of the Norway women's national football team, having made her senior team debut on 12 February 2007 in a match against France. Skarbø has made 8 senior appearances for Norway, and has 45 youth team caps. She was the reserve keeper for the Norwegian squad that placed fourth in the 2007 Women's World Cup held in China. After Skarbø competed with Christine Colombo Nilsen and Ingrid Hjelmseth for the No. 1 goalkeeper position, Bjarne Berntsen announced on 2 May 2008 that Skarbø would be Norway's new No. 1 GK, replacing long-time keeper, Bente Nordby. The 2012 Toppserien was the twenty-sixth season of top-tier women's football in Norway since its establishment in 1987. A total of 12 teams contested the league, ten returning from the 2011 season and the two teams promoted from the First Division, Vålerenga and Fart. The season started on 14 April 2012. Changes from 2011 * Norway fell from 8th to 11th in the UEFA coefficient rankings for the 2013–14 European season. Thus the runners-up is no longer qualified to the Champions League. * The eleventh placed teams will play a promotion/relegation play-off against the second league's second-place finisher. Reidun Seth
Reidun Seth (born 9 June 1966) is a Norwegian footballer, world champion and olympic medallist, a football goalkeeper and a goalkeeper trainer. She debuted for the Norwegian national team in 1984, and played 71 matches for the national team. She received a bronze medal at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. Clubs include IL Jardar, GAIS, Trollhättans IF and Nymark IL. Reidun Seth joined Bergen club Arna-Bjørnar in 1999 and retired after the 2002 season. Since then she has worked as a full-time keeper trainer in Bergen and has among her students Norway's keeper, Erika Skarbø. Following Skarbø's absence due to injury in early 2009 Seth announced that she would be available to play for Arna-Bjørnar in the elite Toppserien league as the club's reserve goalkeeper to first keeper Precious Dede. Precious Uzoaru Dede (born 18 January 1980) is a Nigerian retired footballer who played as a goalkeeper. She formerly played for several clubs including Delta Queens FC, Ibom Queens and Arna-Bjørnar, as well as appearing 99 times for the Nigeria women's national football team.
