Army Staff (Denmark)
The Army Staff ( da, Hærstaben) is the name of various military staffs in the Royal Danish Army. At multiple times it was the highest authority within the Army. History The original Army Staff was created following the first major restructuring following the Second World War, and consisted of the General Staff. It was responsible for war preparations (training and education), studies and planning. It supported the Army Command. After the Army Command was subjugated to the Defence Command in 1976, the Army Staff became the main command of the Army. Following the 1988 Defence Commission, it was decided that the Army Staff and the positions of Inspector of the Army would be disbanded and replaced with the Army Operational Command. Following the Danish Defence Agreement 2013–17, the Army Operational Command was disbanded, re-establishing the Army Staff. A military staff or general staff (also referred to as army staff, navy staff, or air staff within the individual services) is a group of officers, enlisted and civilian staff who serve the commander of a division or other large military unit in their command and control role through planning, analysis, and information gathering, as well as by relaying, coordinating, and supervising the execution of their plans and orders, especially in case of multiple simultaneous and rapidly changing complex operations. Royal Danish Army
The Royal Danish Army ( da, Hæren, fo, Herurin, kl, Sakkutuut) is the land-based branch of the Danish Defence, together with the Danish Home Guard. For the last decade, the Royal Danish Army has undergone a massive transformation of structures, equipment and training methods, abandoning its traditional role of anti-invasion defence, and instead focusing on out of area operations by, among other initiatives, reducing the size of the conscripted and reserve components and increasing the active (standing army) component, changing from 60% support structure and 40% operational capability, to 60% combat operational capability and 40% support structure. General Staff (Denmark)
The General Staff of Denmark was a top authority in the Royal Danish Army and was responsible for war preparations (training and education), studies and planning. Additionally, the Staff also wrote the regulations and historical works. Following the placement under the General Command in 1932, it took over its daily administration. There were two departments within the General Staff, the Command department which stood for the daily administration, and the General Staff department responsible for war preparations. The Danish Defence Command (DCD) ( da, Forsvarskommando, ''FKO'') is the Danish joint military command and the top coordination and controlling authority of the Danish military. It is a Level I command authority, directly under the Ministry of Defence. Army Operational Command ( da, Hærens Operative Kommando), short "HOK", was the Danish Army's top authority. It is a Level.II command authority, directly under the Defence Command. ''HOK'' was formed on 1 January 1991. The origin of ''HOK'' can be traced back to 1808, with the forming of the General staff. Initially located in Aarhus, 1 August 1993 it had its headquarters in Karup, Denmark.
