Karen Movsziszian ( hy, Կարեն Մովսիսյան, born January 6, 1963) is an Armenian chess Grandmaster (1994). He played for Germany from 1993 to 1997 and lives in Spain. Sergei Movsesian
Sergei Movsesian ( hy, Սերգեյ Մովսիսյան; born 3 November 1978) is an Armenian chess player. He was awarded the title Grandmaster by FIDE in 1997. He was a member of the gold medal-winning Armenian team at the 2011 World Team Chess Championship in Ningbo. Movsesian played for the Czech Republic for most of his career. Later he represented Slovakia, which offered him citizenship. On December 30, 2010 Movsesian started to represent his ancestral country of Armenia. Career In 1998 Movsesian won the Czech Chess Championship. In 1999, he reached the quarterfinals of the FIDE World Chess Championship, held in Las Vegas, and lost to Vladimir Akopian by a score of 1½–2½. Movsesian competed in the FIDE World Championship also in 2000, 2002 and 2004. In 2002 and 2007 he won the Slovak Chess Championship. Artashes Minasian (sometimes transliterated as Minasyan; hy, Արտաշես Մինասյան; born 21 January 1967) is an Armenian chess grandmaster. He won the USSR Chess Championship in 1991 and is a six-time Armenian Chess Champion. Chess career He participated in eight Chess Olympiads with a record of +23 −12 =28. In 2006 the Armenian team took the first place at the 37th Chess Olympiad. Along with himself, the team consisted of Levon Aronian, Vladimir Akopian, Karen Asrian, Smbat Lputian, Gabriel Sargissian). Haik Mikaeli Martirosyan ( hy, Հայկ Միքայելի Մարտիրոսյան; born 14 July 2000) is an Armenian chess player. He was awarded the title Grandmaster by FIDE in 2017. he is the second-highest rated Armenian player. Career Martirosyan won the World Youth Chess Championship in the Under 16 category in 2016. In 2017 he played for the World team that won the Match of the Millennials in St. Louis, US scoring 4 points from 7 games. In 2018, he won the Armenian Chess Championship and played for the Armenian team in the 43rd Chess Olympiad in Batumi with a performance rating of 2708. Later in the same year, he also won the Zurich Christmas Open edging out Rasmus Svane, S. L. Narayanan, Dennis Wagner and Andrei Istrățescu. David Sergeevich Markosyan (born January 24, 1972, in Stepanakert, NKAO, Azerbaijan SSR) is an Armenian grandmaster and former coach of the Russian youth chess team. He taught at the Grandmaster Bareev School. Biography Markosyan earned the title of International Master in 2000 and the title of International Grandmaster in 2008. Until 2003, he taught in Tambov. Smbat Gariginovich Lputian (sometimes transliterated as Lputyan; hy, Սմբատ Լպուտյան; born 14 February 1958, in Yerevan) is an Armenian chess Grandmaster. He was first at tournament in Berlin 1982, shared first at Athens 1983 and at Irkutsk 1983, first at Sarajevo 1985 and at Irkutsk 1986, shared first at Hastings 1986–87 and first at Dortmund 1988. He won the Armenian Championship in 1978, 1980, 1998, and 2001. In 2006, he won a team gold medal (together with Levon Aronian, Vladimir Akopian, Karen Asrian, Gabriel Sargissian and Artashes Minasian) at the 37th Chess Olympiad. Smbat Lputyan has been the founder-president of Chess Academy of Armenia since 2002. Lputian earned the International Master (IM) title in 1982 and the Grandmaster (GM) title in 1984.
