Arlöv () is the seat of Burlöv Municipality, Skåne County, Sweden. It is statistically not defined as a locality of its own, but forms part of the contiguous city of Malmö, 5 km northeast of downtown Malmö. Out of Malmö's 344,000 inhabitants, 11,000 live in Arlöv. However, in the 1950s, a public vote took place, deciding once and for all that Burlöv Municipality would never be a part of Malmö. Overview Arlöv is known for its sugar industry, ''Sockerbolaget AB'' (owned by the Danish company Danisco). The town was also the home of the ''AB Svenska Järnvägsverkstäderna'' (''Swedish Railway Works'') or ASJ, who in the 1970s also built several automobiles for SAAB, notably the Saab Sonett II and III. Arlöv Church dates from 1900 and is Neo-Gothic in style; it was built to accommodate the growing congregation. Burlöv Municipality
Burlöv Municipality (; ''Burlövs kommun'') is a municipality in Skåne County in South Sweden in southern Sweden, just north of Malmö. Its seat is located in Arlöv, a community which for geographical and statistical purposes is seen as a part of Malmö (''Malmö tätort''). The municipality is one of only a few in Sweden, and the only one in Scania, which still contains only the original municipal entity created from the old parish in 1863 (cf history of municipalities in Sweden) and has not been amalgamated. It is the second smallest municipality by area in the whole country (after Sundbyberg Municipality). Geography The municipality has no forests, lakes, or streams, but has an abundance of high-voltage power grids, highways and railroads, as it is on the main line from Malmö to northern Sweden. Arlöv Church
Arlöv Church ( sv, Arlövs kyrka) is a church in Arlöv, Burlöv Municipality in the Swedish province Skåne. The Neo-Gothic church was built in 1900 to house a growing congregation. History The church was built in 1900 and was intended to replace Burlöv Old Church, a nearby medieval church which had become to small for the growing congregation. Discussions about building a new church had been initiated already in 1870. When it was inaugurated in 1900, its Neo-Gothic style was already falling out of fashion. Architecture The church was designed by architect in a Neo-Gothic style with some details influenced by Art Nouveau. The building material is yellow bricks and the church consists of a western tower, nave, transepts and a pentagonal choir. The church tower is tall. Inside, most of the furnishings including the Neo-Gothic altarpiece date from the time of construction. Pontus Jansson
Pontus Sven Gustav Jansson (; born 13 February 1991) is a Swedish professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for club Brentford, where he serves as club captain. Jansson started his career with local club Malmö FF before moving to Italy to join Torino. He failed to impress at the Turin-based club and was sent out on loan to Leeds United, before making the move permanent. After three years in Leeds, he signed for fellow Championship side Brentford in 2019, becoming captain shortly after. Amanda Sofia Svensson (born 5 June 1987 in Arlöv) is a Swedish author. She is the daughter of journalist Per Svensson and his wife Ann-Sofie Svensson, she grew up in Malmö. She started writing at a young age and at seventeen she reached the final of Lilla Augustpriset. She got her education at writing at Fridhems folkhögskola in Svalöv between 2006 and 2008. Saab Sonett
The Saab Sonett is an automobile manufactured between 1955 and 1957 and again between 1966 and 1974 by Saab Automobile, Saab of Sweden. Sonetts share engines and other components with Saab 93, Saab 95, 95 and Saab 96, 96 of the same era. It was mainly intended for the lucrative American export market and was only offered intermittently in the Swedish domestic market (model years 1968 and 1972). The first prototype, now known as the Sonett I, is a two-seat, open-top, lightweight roadster racer which, ten years later, evolved into the commercially distributed Sonett models II, V4, and III. Nationalteatern is a Swedish progg rock group from the 1970s that featured leftist political lyrics. It was originally a traveling theater ensemble with many members, most notably Ulf Dageby, Anders Melander, Totta Näslund, Nikke Ström, Hans Mosesson and Pale Olofsson. History Initially formed as a free theater group in Lund in 1968, Nationalteatern moved to Gothenburg and started to put heavy emphasis on the musical part of the plays. The leader of the group in the early days was Anders Melander, who also played most of the instruments on the group's debut album, ''Ta det som ett löfte...ta det inte som ett hot'' (Take it as a promise...don’t take it as a threat). Saab Automobile AB () is a defunct automotive industry, car manufacturer that was founded in Sweden in 1945 when its parent company, Saab AB, began a project to design a small automobile. The first production model, the Saab 92, was launched in 1949. In 1968 the parent company merged with Scania-Vabis, and ten years later the Saab 900 was launched, in time becoming Saab's best-selling model. In the mid-1980s the new Saab 9000 model also appeared.
