Arktikgaz
OAO Arktikgaz (russian: Арктикгаз; formerly known as ''Severneftegaz''; not to be confused with ''Sevmorneftegaz'' and ''Severneftegazprom'') is a Russian oil and gas company, which operates in the Yamalo-Nenets region. It was created on the basis of the former assets of Yukos. It is a joint venture of Gazprom Neft and Novatek. The headquarters of the company are located in Novy Urengoy, Tyumen Oblast. History Arktikgaz, together with Urengoil and Neftegaztekhnologiya was founded as Severneftegaz which was one of the first independent oil and gas companies in Russia. On 11 August 1998, the American-based Benton Oil and Gas Company acquired a 40% share in Severneftegaz and increased its stake afterwards up to 68%. Gazprom Neft (russian: Газпром Нефть; formerly Sibneft, russian: Сибнефть, link=no), is the third largest oil producer in Russia and ranked third according to refining throughput. It is a subsidiary of Gazprom, which owns about 96% of its shares. The company is registered and headquartered in St. Petersburg after central offices were relocated from Moscow in 2011. By the end of 2012 Gazprom Neft accounted for 10% of oil and gas production and 14.6% of refining activities in Russia. Urengoy Gas Field
The Urengoy gas field in the northern West Siberia Basin is the world's second largest natural gas field after South Pars / North Dome Gas-Condensate field. The gas field has over ten trillion cubic meters (1013 m³) in total deposits. It lies in Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug in Tyumen Oblast of Russia, just south of the Arctic circle and named after the settlement of Urengoy.
