Ark Globe Academy
Ark Globe Academy (combining the former Geoffrey Chaucer Technology College and Joseph Lancaster Primary School) is a mixed all-through school located in Southwark, London, England. The school caters for children from Reception age through to sixth form. It is part of the Ark school network, operated by the charitable organisation Ark. The academy moved to a new purpose-built combined building in 2010. Academy (English School)
An academy school in England is a state-funded school which is directly funded by the Department for Education and independent of local authority control. The terms of the arrangements are set out in individual Academy Funding Agreements. Most academies are secondary schools, though slightly more than 25% of primary schools (4,363 as of December 2017) are academies. Academies are self-governing non-profit charitable trusts and may receive additional support from personal or corporate sponsors, either financially or in kind. Academies are inspected and follow the same rules on admissions, special educational needs and exclusions as other state schools and students sit the same national exams. Matthew Leon Jones OBE (born 9 October 1970) is a former English footballer who played as a winger. He was awarded an OBE in 2020 for services to education. Club career Jones began his senior career with Southend United in 1988, making five Football League appearances for the club, before moving to Chelmsford City in 1990. Southwark ( ) is a district of Central London situated on the south bank of the River Thames, forming the north-western part of the wider modern London Borough of Southwark.
