Argus Range
The Argus Range is a mountain range located in Inyo County, California, southeast of the town of Darwin, California, Darwin. The range forms the western boundary of Panamint Valley, and the northwestern boundary of Searles Valley. The Coso Range is located to the west, and the Panamint Range to the east. Geography The Argus Range is one of the westernmost of the Basin and Range Province ranges. The northern end of the range is just south of the Panamint Springs, California, Panamint Springs Resort on California State Route 190, Highway 190. The range runs south to Argus Peak, just northwest of Searles Lake, near the town of Trona, Inyo County, California, Trona, California. In addition to Argus Peak, the range contains Maturango Peak. Inyo County () is a county in the eastern central part of the U.S. state of California, located between the Sierra Nevada and the state of Nevada. In the 2020 census, the population was 19,016. Searles Lake
Searles Lake is an endorheic dry lake in the Searles Valley of the Mojave Desert, in northwestern San Bernardino County, California. The lake in the past was also called Slate Range Lake and Borax Lake. The mining community of Trona is on its western shore. The evaporite basin is approximately long and at its widest point, yielding 1.7 million tons annually of industrial minerals within the basin to the Searles Valley Minerals mining operations. Panamint Springs is private resort in Inyo County, California. It consists of a motel, cabins, RV and tent campsites, restaurant, and gas station, all operated by Cassell Enterprises, LLC. It lies at an elevation of 1926 feet (587 m). Location Panamint Springs Resort is located along State Route 190 (SR190) between Old Toll Road and Panamint Valley Road. The closest store and gas station to Star Wars Canyon, the site features a motel, campground, restaurant, and the last gas station for many miles in either direction on SR190.
