Argentine Venezuelans
Argentine Venezuelans ( es, argentino-venezolanos) are Venezuelan citizens of partial or full Argentine descent, or Argentine citizens who have migrated to and settled in Venezuela. Many Argentines fled their country and settled in Venezuela during the military dictatorship that ruled Argentina from 1976 to 1983. In 2019, an estimate numbered Argentine Venezuelans still living in Venezuela at 9,740. History Argentine immigration to Venezuela had its peak during the 1970s. Many Argentines were fleeing the National Reorganization Process, the military dictatorship that ruled over Argentina from 1976 and 1983. The dictatorship persecuted leftists and other political opponents, and drove out middle-class professionals, causing a severe human capital flight. Caracas (, ), officially Santiago de León de Caracas, abbreviated as CCS, is the capital and largest city of Venezuela, and the center of the Metropolitan Region of Caracas (or Greater Caracas). Alberto Garrido
Alberto Rafael Garrido García (3 September 1949 – 4 December 2007) was an Argentine–Venezuelan journalist, political analyst and writer known for his works on Hugo Chávez. The focus of a better part of his career, his extensive knowledge on Chávez led Venezuelan media to dub him a "''Chavólogo''". Early life and education Garrido was born in Buenos Aires in 1949. As a youth, he became politically active in leftist groups fighting against the military dictatorship that ruled the country from 1976 to 1983. Venezuelan Argentines
Venezuelan Argentines ( es, link=no, venezolano-argentinos) are Argentine citizens of partial or full Venezuelan descent, or Venezuelan citizens who have migrated to and settled in Argentina. As of 2021, there are 179,203 Venezuelans living in Argentina, most of whom migrated during the latter half of the 2010s as part of the Venezuelan refugee crisis. The last census held in Argentina, in 2010, registered only 6,000 Venezuelan migrants living in the country. As of 2018, Venezuelans were the fourth-largest expat community in Argentina, behind Paraguayans, Bolivians and Chileans. According to IOM figures, Argentina granted 170,223 residency permits to Venezuelan citizens alone from 2018 to 2020, nearly twice as many as to Paraguayan citizens. This makes Venezuelans the fastest-growing expat community in the country. Elisa Alejandra Trotta Gamus is a Venezuelan lawyer, diplomat and human rights activist, named ambassador from Venezuela to Argentina by Juan Guaidó during the 2019 Venezuelan presidential crisis, and recognized immediately by Argentine president Mauricio Macri. Lilian Adriana Tintori Parra (born 5 May 1978) is a Venezuelan activist, athlete, and television and radio host. Tintori is the wife of Leopoldo López, a Venezuelan politician sentenced in 2015 to nearly 14 years in prison for "inciting violence" during street protests the year before. Hebe Vessuri is an Argentine–Venezuelan social anthropologist. In 2017, she was recognized with the John Desmond Bernal Prize Award from the Society for Social Studies of Science. Juana Sujo
Juana Sujo (1913–1961) was an Argentine stage and film actress. Sujo was a noted stage actress, and in 1939 appeared in her first film.
