Archibald Le Magi-chien
''Archibald le Magichien'' (literally: ''Archibald the Magic Dog'') is a French animated edutainment TV series that ran from 1980 until 1981. A total of 46 5-minute episodes were produced by DiC Audiovisuel. This miniseries was one of the first productions of DIC Entertainment (then known as DIC Audiovisuel), produced only one year before ''Ulysses 31''. Title The last word in the title combines the words ''magie'' (magic) and ''chien'' (dog). The resulting portmanteau, ''magichien'', is a pun on the word ''magicien'' (magician). Synopsis Archibald is a magician who has transformed himself into a dog and can't remember how to change himself back. He befriends a young boy called Pierrot and teaches him the secrets of maintaining a good form and health. The series was designed to teach child viewers how to take better care of their health. Jean Chalopin
Jean Chalopin (born 31 May 1950) is a French bank executive. During the 1980s and early 1990s, he produced a range of successful animated series, first as the founder and president of the production company DIC, then at his newly created company C&D from 1987. He is probably most well-known as the co-creator of ''Inspector Gadget'', as well as the co-writer and producer of ''The Mysterious Cities of Gold''. He currently heads Bahamas-based Deltec Bank. Career In 1971, with the backing of Radio Television Luxembourg, Chalopin formed the company Diffusion, Information Communications (DIC) which later evolved into DIC Entertainment. Bruno Bianchi (cartoonist)
Bruno Bianchi (, 6 September 1955 – 2 December 2011) was a French cartoonist, comics artist and animation director. Bianchi worked extensively as an artist, director and producer on animated television productions; including '' Heathcliff'', ''Iznogoud'' and most notably, ''Inspector Gadget'', which he also co-created. Career Bianchi started his career at DiC Audiovisuel (later DiC Entertainment) in 1977 at age 22 as a cel painter, then gradually assumed creative positions. His first director's credit was on the 1980 edutainment mini-series '' Archibald le Magichien'' (directly translated: ''Archibald the Magic Dog''). (french: link=no, Ulysse 31) is an anime series (1981) that updates the Greek mythology of Odysseus (known as "Ulixes" or "Ulysses" in Latin) to the 31st century. The show comprises 26 half-hour episodes as a co-production between DIC Audiovisuel and TMS Entertainment. Plot The series (made by the French Jean Chalopin) follows the struggles of Ulysses and his crew against the divine entities that rule the universe, the ancient gods from Greek mythology. The Gods of Olympus are angered when Ulysses, commander of the giant spaceship ''Odyssey'', kills the giant Cyclops to save a group of enslaved children, including his son.
