Archery At The 2012 Summer Olympics – Men's Team
The men's team archery competition at the 2012 Olympic Games in London was held from 27–28 July at Lord's Cricket Ground. Italy won the gold medal with Michele Frangilli, Marco Galiazzo and Mauro Nespoli. The United States won silver and South Korea won bronze. Competition format The teams were ranked 1st to 12th based on the three team members' ranking round results and this was used to seed them into a head-to-head knockout bracket. Each member of the team shot eight arrows in a match (for a total of 24 arrows per team) and the team with the highest total won the match. The winner advanced to the next round while the loser was eliminated from the competition. Lord's Cricket Ground
Lord's Cricket Ground, commonly known as Lord's, is a cricket venue in St John's Wood, London. Named after its founder, Thomas Lord, it is owned by Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) and is the home of Middlesex County Cricket Club, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), the European Cricket Council (ECC) and, until August 2005, the International Cricket Council (ICC). South Korea At The 2012 Summer Olympics
South Korea (officially the Republic of Korea) competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, from July 27 to August 12, 2012. This was the nation's sixteenth appearance at the Olympics, having missed the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow because of its support for the United States boycott. The Korean Olympic Committee sent the nation's smallest delegation to the Games since 1992. A total of 248 athletes, 135 men and 113 women, competed in 22 sports. South Korea left London with a total of 30 medals (13 gold, 9 silver, and 8 bronze), finishing fifth in the medal standings and tying its record for the most gold medals won at an Olympics with the total it set at Beijing. Thomas Faucheron
Thomas Faucheron (born 23 February 1990, in Rennes) is a French archer. At the 2012 Summer Olympics he competed in the Men's team event and the men's individual event. In the individual event, he was 27th after the ranking rounds, and beat Witthaya Thamwong in the first knockout round before losing to teammate Gael Prevost in the second. In the team event, France were ranked second after the ranking round but lost to Mexico in the quarterfinals. Park Kyung-Mo
Park Kyung-mo (; born August 15, 1975) is an archer from South Korea. He has won gold medals at the three major World Archery Federation events (Olympics, World Archery Championships and World Cup finals) and is a former world number one. He is married to archer Park Sung-hyun. 2004 Summer Olympics Park competed for Korea at the 2004 Summer Olympics in men's individual archery. He won his first three elimination matches, advancing to the quarterfinals. In the quarterfinals, Park faced Tim Cuddihy of Australia, losing to the eventual bronze medalist 112-111 in the 12-arrow match. Park placed 5th overall and holds the Olympic record for an 18-arrow match at 70 meters. He scored 173 points out of the potential 180 to set the record. Lee Chang-hwan
Lee Chang-hwan (; born 16 March 1982) is a professional archer from South Korea. He competed in Archery at the 2006 Asian Games and won a gold medal with the men's team consisting of himself, Im Dong-hyun, Jang Yong-ho and Park Kyung-mo. 2008 Summer Olympics At the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing Lee finished his ranking round with a total of 669 points, ten points behind leader Juan René Serrano. This gave him the tenth seed for the final competition bracket in which he faced Jiang Lin in the first round, beating the Chinese 112–108. A bracket or tournament bracket is a tree diagram that represents the series of games played during a knockout tournament. Different knockout tournament formats have different brackets; the simplest and most common is that of the single-elimination tournament.
