Arbat, Almaty
Arbat is a pedestrian zone in Almaty, Kazakhstan. It is located on Jibek Joly Street, between Abylai Khan Avenue and Nazarbayev Street. The zone features many stores such as TsUM, or Silk Way shopping mall and kiosks. History Created in the late 1980s, Arbat was the first area in Almaty to be turned into a pedestrian zone. The name is taken from Moscow's Arbat Street. The zone was reconstructed in 2017, and now features fountains and is connected to Panfilov Street Promenade Panfilov Street Promenade is a promenade located in Almaty, Kazakhstan. The Abay Opera House, where the promenade starts, and KBTU Building are located within it, which was redesigned by Danish urban designer Jan Gehl. The promenade ends in Arbat .... Arbat Street (Russian ), mainly referred to in English as the Arbat, is a pedestrian street about one kilometer long in the historical centre of Moscow, Russia. The Arbat has existed since at least the 15th century, which makes it one of the oldest surviving streets of the Russian capital. It forms the heart of the Arbat District of Moscow. Panfilov Street Promenade is a promenade located in Almaty, Kazakhstan. The Abay Opera House, where the promenade starts, and KBTU Building are located within it, which was redesigned by Danish urban designer Jan Gehl. The promenade ends in Arbat. History The Almaty City Maslihat was responsible for the large-scale reconstruction of the Almaty's historical city center. The renovation on Panfilov Street took place from the State Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet to Abay Opera House.
