Araújo or Araujo or Araúxo (, , ) is a surname Galician of noble medieval origin. Possibly the noble Don Rodrigo Anes de Araujo, lord of the Araujo castle, Ourense, Galicia, was the first to use the surname of Araújo. His great-grandson Pedro Anes de Araújo moved to the kingdom of Portugal, around 1375, being the first Araújo to settle there. History The progenitor of Araújo's surname is probably Don Rodrigo Annes, who was the Lord of the Castle and the lands of Araújo, located in the south of the Kingdom of Galicia, in the current province of Ourense. Philip I (23 May 1052 – 29 July 1108), called the Amorous, was King of the Franks from 1060 to 1108. His reign, like that of most of the early Capetians, was extraordinarily long for the time. Francisco Correa de Araujo (or Arauxo, or Acebedo) (1584–1654) was a Spanish organist, composer, and theorist of the late Renaissance. Life Correa de Araujo was born in Seville. Like most Spanish organists from this era, details of his life are clouded by obscurity. For some time even the years of his birth and death were disputed.The dates given here are those given by Ayarra and the New Grove and are regarded as authoritative; but the reader should be aware that earlier sources, even authoritative ones such as Apel's textbook on early music, may have differing dates for Correa's birth and death which are now regarded as incorrect. Serafim Fernandes De Araújo
Serafim Fernandes de Araújo (; 13 August 1924 – 8 October 2019) was a Brazilian prelate of the Catholic Church who served as Archbishop of Belo Horizonte from 1986 to 2004. He was made a cardinal of the Catholic Church by Pope John Paul II in 1998. Biography Araújo was born in Minas Novas, in the northeast of the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais, and grew up in nearby Itamarandiba. He studied at the seminary of Diamantina from the age of twelve, graduating in humanities in 1942 and philosophy in 1944, later continuing his studies from 1949 until 1951 at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, where he earned licentiates in theology and canon law. Malacca ( ms, Melaka) is a state in Malaysia located in the southern region of the Malay Peninsula, next to the Strait of Malacca. Alexandre Herculano de Carvalho e Araújo (28 March 181013 September 1877) was a Portuguese novelist and historian. Early life Herculano's family had humble origins. One of his grandfathers was a foreman stonemason in the royal employ. Herculano received his early education, comprising Latin, logic and rhetoric, at the Necessidades Monastery, and spent a year at the Royal Marine Academy studying mathematics with the intention of entering on a commercial career. In 1828 Portugal fell under the absolute rule of D.
