Arauca, Colombia
Arauca is a municipality and capital city of the Arauca Department of Colombia. Its full name is Villa de Santa Bárbara de Arauca, it is located at N 07° 05′ 25″ - W 70° 45′ 42″. The national flag of Colombia symbolises Colombian independence from Spain, gained on 20 July 1810. It is a horizontal tricolor of yellow, blue and red. The yellow stripe takes up a half of the flag and the blue and red take up a quarter of the space each. Mestizo Colombians refers to Colombians who are of European (mostly Spaniard) and Amerindian ancestry. Numbers and distribution The 2018 Census reported that 87% of the population do not consider part of some the recognised ethnic groups, being mostly Mestizos and Whites.
