''Arasiyal'' () is an 1997 Indian Tamil language film directed by R. K. Selvamani. The film stars Mammootty, Shilpa Shirodkar and Roja. It was released on 12 December 1997. Plot Chandrasekhar (Mammootty) is an honest collector who arrests Vikram (Anandaraj), an international terrorist, in Delhi. He's transferred to Madras to eradicate the corruption. Chandrasekhar has two sisters, Priya (Jeeva) and Supriya ( Roja). Priya is in love with Marudapandi (Charan Raj), a hopeless police officer and Chandrasekhar's friend. Anitha Kuppusamy is a Tamil folk and Carnatic singer, and television host known for her ' Naatupura Pattu', a Tamil folk art. Anitha aspired to become a singer from a young age. Pushpavanam Kuppusamy is a Tamil folk singer, lyricist, writer and music composer of Tamil folk art. He has been credited for reviving the Naatupura Paatu a Tamil folk art. Together with his wife Anitha Kuppusamy, he has conducted several music concerts of Tamil folk songs. Kuppuswamy is also a playback singer. The couple have together brought out several albums of authentic Tamil folk music. He has also written books on Tamil Folk songs.
