Araku Railway Station
Araku railway station (station code:ARK) is an Indian railways station located near Araku Valley of Alluri Sitharama Raju district in the state of Andhra Pradesh. It belongs to South Coast Railway zone under Vishakapatnam railway division. The railway station is situated at about 935 meters elevation. History In 1960, Indian Railway took up three projects: the Kothavalasa–Araku–Koraput–Jeypore–Jagdalpur–Dantewara–Kirandaul line, the Jharsuguda–Sambalpur–Bargarh–Balangir–Titlagarh Project and the Biramitrapur–Rourkela–Bimlagarh–Kiriburu project. All the three projects taken together were popularly known as the DBK Project or the Dandakaranya–Bolangir–Kiriburu project (under Dandakaranya Project ). The Kothavalasa–Kirandul line was opened in 1966–67 under South Eastern Railway Zone with financial aid of Japan for transporting Iron ore. The Slow and fast passenger trains are passenger train services of Indian Railways which connect small towns and cities to metropolitan cities in India. Araku Valley
Araku Valley is a hill station in Alluri Sitharama Raju district in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, lying 111 km west of Visakhapatnam city. This place is often referred to as ''Ooty of Andhra''. It is a valley in the Eastern Ghats inhabited by different tribes, mainly Araku Tribes. Geography Araku is located in the Eastern Ghats about from Visakhapatnam, close to the Odisha state border. Alluri Sitharama Raju District
Alluri Sitharama Raju district, also known as Alluri district and by its initials as ASR district, is a district in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. The headquarters of the district is located at Paderu. Named after Alluri Sitarama Raju, a revolutionary in the Indian independence movement who hailed from the region, the district was effective since 4 April 2022 and became one of the twenty-six districts in the state. Kothavalasa–Kirandul Line
Kothavalasa–Kirandul line belongs to Waltair railway division of East Coast Railway zone from 2003 till Feb 2019 . It was under South Eastern Railway zone until 2003. Now some Part of KK line till Araku railway Station will be coming under South Coast Railway zone and East Coast Railway after Gorapur Station. The formal notification for operationalization of this Zone is yet to be issued. Jurisdiction South Coast Railway will be headquartered at Visakhapatnam and have three divisions. The existing Waltair division will be bifurcated into two parts. The Andhra Pradesh part of the division, that includes Visakhapatnam district, Vizianagaram district, and a part of Srikakulam district will be merged into neighbouring waltair division. The other part of Srikakulam district will be converted into a new division with headquarter at Rayagada under East Coast Railway (ECoR). Dandakaranya Project
The Dandakaranya Project, or the DNK Project, was the form of action the Indian government designed in September 1958 for the settlement of displaced persons from Bangladesh (former East Pakistan) and for integrated development of the area with particular regard to the promotion of the interests of the local tribal population. The particular focus was on Bengali refugees from East Pakistan moving to lands and resources in Odisha and Chhattisgarh. To implement this project, the Government of India established the Dandakaranya Development Authority. Borra Caves
The Borra Caves (also called ''Borra Guhalu'') are located on the East Coast of India, in the Ananthagiri hills of the Araku Valley (with hill ranges' elevation varying from ) of the Alluri Sitharama Raju district in Andhra Pradesh.
