Arabic Wikipedia
The Arabic Wikipedia ( ar, ويكيبيديا العربية) is the Modern Standard Arabic version of Wikipedia. It started on 9 July 2003. As of , it has articles, registered users and files and it is the List of Wikipedias, largest edition of Wikipedia by article count, and ranks m:Wikipedia article depth, 8th in terms of depth among Wikipedias. It was the first Wikipedia in a Semitic languages, Semitic language to exceed 100,000 articles on 25 May 2009, and also the first Semitic language to exceed 1 million articles, on 17 November 2019. The design of the Arabic Wikipedia differs somewhat from other Wikipedias. Most notably, since Arabic is written Bi-directional text, right-to-left, the location of links is a mirror image of those Wikipedias in languages written left-to-right. Zarqa ( ar, الزرقاء) is the capital of Zarqa Governorate in Jordan. Its name means "the blue (city)". It had a population of 635,160 inhabitants in 2015, and is the most populous city in Jordan after Amman. Geography Zarqa is located in the Zarqa River basin in northeast Jordan. Arabeyes is a free and open-source project that is aimed at fully supporting the Arabic language in the Unix/Linux environment. It was established in early 2001 by a number of Arab Linux enthusiasts. They made the "world's first Arabic Linux live CD." The name is a play on the word "Arabise" (which, in this context, means to adapt software so that it is compatible with Arabic), and "eyes" a term for many people. Project The project runs a portal for sub-projects such as Arabic free software Unicode fonts and text editor, the "ITL" ( Islamic Tools and Libraries) which provide Hijri dates, Muslim prayer times and Qibla.
