Ara (newspaper)
''Ara'' (, meaning ''Now'' in English) is a Catalan daily Spanish newspaper that began publication on 28 November 2010, coinciding with the 2010 Catalan regional election. It is the third most read daily newspaper in Catalonia, and the most read daily newspaper written exclusively in the Catalan language. Its regional edition, ''Ara Balears'', is the most popular Catalan language newspaper on the Balearic Islands. ARA's online edition had nearly 3.2M visitors in September 2017, making it the most popular online newspaper in Catalan language. The founding editor was Carles Capdevila and the current editor is Esther Vera. The president is Ferran Rodés and the CEO is Salvador Garcia. The newspaper's advisory council includes journalists Antoni Bassas, Albert Om and Toni Soler, all known for their work with the Catalan public TV broadcaster, TV3. Catalanism
Catalan nationalism is the ideology asserting that the Catalans are a distinct nation. Intellectually, modern Catalan nationalism can be said to have commenced as a political philosophy in the unsuccessful attempts to establish a federal state in Spain in the context of the First Republic (1873-1874). Valentí Almirall i Llozer and other intellectuals that participated in this process set up a new political ideology in the 19th century, to restore self-government, as well as to obtain recognition for the Catalan language. These demands were summarized in the so-called ''Bases de Manresa'' in 1892. It met very little support at first. But after the Spanish–American War in which the United States invaded and annexed the last of the Spanish colonies, these early stages of Catalanism grew in support, mostly because of the weakened Spanish international position after the war and the loss of the two main destinations for Catalan exports (Cuba and Puerto Rico). ''The New York Times International Edition'' is an English-language daily newspaper distributed internationally by the New York Times Company. It has been published in two separate periods, one from 1943 to 1967 and one from 2013 to the present. First incarnation Overseas Weekly The history of the international edition of the New York Times began in June 1943, following a visit by Times publisher Arthur Hays Sulzberger to Tehran, where he met with Brigadier General Donald H. European Newspaper Award
European Newspaper Award is a design competition for European newspapers. The competition was founded and is organized by newspaper designer Norbert Küpper from Meerbusch, Germany. He co-operates with the journalist magazines '' Medium Magazin'' (Frankfurt), '' Der Österreichische Journalist'' (Salzburg), and '' Schweizer Journalist'' (Oberuzwil). TV3 () is the primary television channel of Catalonia, Catalan public broadcasting, public broadcaster Televisió de Catalunya, a subsidiary of the Corporació Catalana de Mitjans Audiovisuals, CCMA.
