Anything You Can Do (game Show)
''Anything You Can Do'' is a Television in Canada, Canadian stunt-based game show that aired on that country's CTV Television Network, CTV network and in syndication in the United States from 1971 to 1974. The host in the show's first season was Gene Wood, who at the time was also the announcer on ''Beat the Clock''. For the last two seasons, Don Harron was the host. Bill Luxton was the announcer for the series, which was taped at the studios of CJOH-DT, CJOH-TV in Ottawa, Ontario. The game was billed as a "battle of the sexes" and was played by two teams of three, men against women. Rules Two teams of three, men against women, competed. Center stage was a board containing the names of occupations that are (or were, at the time) generally performed by men, and occupations generally performed by women. Gene Wood
Eugene Edward Wood (October 20, 1925 – May 21, 2004) was an American television personality, known primarily for his work as an announcer on various game shows. From the 1950s to the 1990s, he announced many game shows, primarily Mark Goodson–Bill Todman productions such as ''Family Feud'', ''Classic Concentration'', ''Card Sharks'', ''Password (American game show), Password'', and ''Beat the Clock''. Wood also served a brief stint as a host on this last show, and on another show, ''Anything You Can Do (game show), Anything You Can Do''. After retiring from game shows in 1996, Wood worked as an announcer for the Game Show Network until his retirement in 1998. Early life Wood was born in Quincy, Massachusetts. CJOH-DT (channel 13) is a television station in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, part of the CTV Television Network. It is owned and operated by network parent Bell Media alongside Pembroke-licensed CTV 2 outlet CHRO-TV (channel 5). Both stations share studios with Bell's Ottawa radio properties at the Market Media Mall building on George Street in downtown Ottawa's ByWard Market, while CJOH-DT's transmitter is located on the Ryan Tower at Camp Fortune in Chelsea, Quebec, north of Gatineau. ''Beat the Clock'' is an American television game show that involves people trying to complete challenges to win prizes while faced with a time limit. The show was a creation of Mark Goodson-Bill Todman Productions. The show began on radio as ''Time's A-Wastin in 1948, hosted by Bud Collyer, and changed its name to ''Beat the Time'' on January 5, 1949. The show moved to television on the CBS nighttime schedule starting on March 23, 1950. On September 16, 1957, CBS premiered an afternoon version of the show as well, which ran for a year. The nighttime show was cancelled on February 16, 1958, and the afternoon program followed on September 12, 1958. Don Harron
Donald Hugh Harron, (September 19, 1924 – January 17, 2015) was a Canadian comedian, actor, director, journalist, author, playwright, and composer. Harron is best remembered by American audiences as a member of the cast of the long-running country music series ''Hee Haw'', on which he played his signature character of Charlie Farquharson. Early life Harron's parents owned and operated Harron's Cleaners and Dryers in Toronto. Beginning at the age of ten, he earned extra money for the family during the Great Depression, doing "chalk talks" telling humorous stories while drawing caricatures in coloured chalk at company or club banquets, making $10 or $15 a talk.
