Districts Of Peru
The districts of Peru () are the third-level country subdivisions of Peru. They are subdivisions of the provinces of Peru, provinces, which in turn are subdivisions of the larger regions of Peru, regions or departments. There are 1,838 districts in total. Overview A 1982 law requires a minimum of residents in an area for a new district to be legally established: 3,500 if it is located in the rainforest, 4,000 in the Andes highlands and 10,000 in the Chala, coastal area. In the dry Andean area, many districts have less than 3,500 inhabitants due to low population density in the area. In some cases, their populations have decreased in comparison to the days when they were founded. Districts that are located at very high altitudes tend to be scarcely populated. Peru 2005 Census
# The 2005 Peru Census was a detailed enumeration of the Peruvian population. It was conducted by the Instituto Nacional de Estadística e Informática from July 18 through August 20, 2005. Its full name in Spanish is ''X Censo de Población y V de Vivienda'' ("Tenth Population and Fifth Household Census"). The previous census performed in Peru was the 1993 Census. The following census was the 2007 Census. The results of the census were released to the public on November 30, 2005 after all the census materials from the country's 25 regions were transported to Arequipa and processed at the INEI information processing center in that city. Antonio Raimondi
Antonio Raimondi (September 19, 1826 – October 26, 1890) was a prominent Italian-born Peruvian geographer and scientist. Born in Milan, Raimondi emigrated to Peru, arriving on July 28, 1850, at the port of Callao. In 1851 he became a professor of natural history. In 1856, he was one of the founding professors of the medical school at the National University of San Marcos; in 1861, he founded the analytical chemistry department. Raimondi died in the town of San Pedro de Lloc in the La Libertad Region of northern Perú. The house in which he died still stands and is located within a block of the town's main plaza. It has been converted to a museum in his honor. Throughout his career, Raimondi displayed a passion for all things Peruvian. He undertook no less than 18 extensive journeys to all regions of the country, studying the nation's geography, geology, botany, zoology, ethnography, and archaeology. Bolognesi Province
The Bolognesi Province is one of 20 provinces of the Ancash Region of Peru. Overview The province originally was part of Cajatambo Province (part of Lima Region since 1916) until 1903, when it was split off and named after Col. Francisco Bolognesi, the hero of the Battle of Arica. In 1990, Ocros Province split off from Bolognesi. Geography The area of the province comprises parts of four Andean mountain ranges with snow-covered mountains: the Cordillera Blanca, the Cordillera Negra, the Wallanka mountain range and the Waywash mountain range.
