Antonia Jiménez
Antonia Jiménez (born 1972) is an inland flamenco guitarist and composer, considered to be one of the most prominent Spanish women in that field. She was born in El Puerto de Santa María and studied guitar with Antonia Villar from a young age. She accompanied flamenco singers and dancers in Andalusia, later moving to Madrid. She became an accompanist for the Nuevo Ballet Español and Arrieritos dance companies. She also pursued further studies in guitar with Enrique Vargas. Jiménez has accompanied singers including Carmen Linares and Juan Pinilla and dancers including , Olga Pericet, , Manuel Liñán and Belén Maya. Flamenco Guitar
A flamenco guitar is a guitar similar to a classical guitar but with thinner tops and less internal bracing. It usually has nylon strings, like the classical guitar, but it generally possesses a livelier, more gritty sound compared to the classical guitar. It is used in ''toque'', the guitar-playing part of the art of flamenco. History Traditionally, luthiers made guitars to sell at a wide range of prices, largely based on the materials used and the amount of decorations, to cater to the popularity of the instrument across all classes of people in Spain. The cheapest guitars were often simple, basic instruments made from the less expensive woods such as cypress. Carmen Pacheco Rodríguez (Born in 1951 in Linares, Jaén), better known by her stage name Carmen Linares, is one of the finest flamenco singers in Spain. Juan Pinilla Martin (Huétor-Tájar, January 2, 1981) is a flamenco singer from Granada (Spain), critic, writer and columnist. In August, 2007 he won the Festival del Cante de las Minas, with the prize Lámpara Minera 2007, considered the most important flamenco prize. He studied Translation and Interpretation. At present he studies Law. Belén Maya
Belén Maya (born 1966) is a Spanish flamenco dancer, choreographer and educator. She is the daughter of Mario Maya, a Romani man considered one of the most innovative flamenco dancers in Spanish history and Carmen Mora, also a flamenco dancer. She was born in New York City while her parents were on tour performing. Maya began dancing while still young and studied classical, Hindu and contemporary dance in Italy, Germany and England. She also studied at the Amor de Dios school in Madrid with teachers including Paco Fernández, Goyo Montero, Carmen Cortés, Paco Romero and Rosa Naranjo. She joined the Spanish National Ballet, later joining her father's company. She then formed her own company, going on tour in Japan; she next joined the Andalusian Dance Company.
