André Wicky
André Wicky (22 May 1928 – 14 May 2016) was a Swiss racing driver, active from the late 1950s to the late 1970s. He was mainly involved in sports car racing, as an entrant and team owner as well as a driver, but also took part in several non-championship Formula One races during the 1960s. Career Wicky entered the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1960 and 1961 with an AC Ace, winning the 2.0 GT class in 1960. He returned to Le Mans in 1966, and raced every year until 1975, campaigning Porsches. From 1969, he drove for his own team, the Wicky Racing Team, and his best overall result was 17th in 1971, driving a Porsche 908. The same year, Walter Brun finished seventh in a Wicky Porsche. Occasionally Wicky campaigned other marques besides Porsche; in 1974 he entered a BMW 3.0CSL for Brun, although it retired after one lap, and a De Tomaso Pantera for Max Cohen-Olivar and Philippe Carron, which retired after 16 laps. Team Lotus was the motorsport sister company of English sports car manufacturer Lotus Cars. The Porsche 910 or Carrera 10 was a race car from Porsche, based on the Porsche 906. 29 were produced and were raced in 1966 and 1967. The factory name for the 910 was the 906/10. The 910 was considered the next sequence in the 906 line. History The main difference to the original 906 is the use of 13 inch wheels and tyres as in Formula One (F1), plus a single central nut instead of the five nuts as in a road car. 1968 24 Hours Of Le Mans
The 1968 24 Hours of Le Mans was the 36th Grand Prix of Endurance, and took place on 28 and 29 September 1968 on the Circuit de la Sarthe, in Le Mans, France. Originally scheduled for the weekend of 15 and 16 June, the race had to be delayed until September due to protests, strikes, and civil unrest in France during the spring of 1968. The rescheduled race increased the chances of the Group 6 Prototypes against the Group 4 Sports cars, as the new Prototype cars had matured during the season. It also increased the amount of darkness that drivers would be racing in compared to June, by about three hours: a total of 11 hours. Its new date made it the tenth and final round of the 1968 World Sportscar Championship of a tense and close championship between Ford and Porsche. Bizzarrini P538
The P538 or P538S was a rear-engined race car launched in late 1965 or early 1966 by Scuderia Bizzarrini of Livorno, Italy. The cars used five-speed manual transaxles with gearing specific to the race for which each car was constructed. Braking was via inboard four wheel disc brakes, with a fully independent suspension. The body was made of fiberglass over a tubular steel chassis. Only 3 spider cars were produced by Bizzarrini. # P538*001, # P538*002 and # P538*003. #001 with Lamborghini V12 engine. That car crashed during tests and the history ended right there, because the chassis was cut up. Bizzarrini S.p.A. is an Italian automotive manufacturer: in 1964 it was founded by former Alfa Romeo, Ferrari and Iso engineer Giotto Bizzarrini. The company built a small number of highly developed and advanced sport and racing automobiles before failing in 1969: in 2020, it was announced that the name had been acquired by Pegasus brands, together with plans to restart production. Bristol Cars
Bristol Cars were manufacturers of hand-built luxury cars headquartered in Bristol, England. After being placed in receivership and being taken over in 2011, it entered liquidation in February 2020. After the Second World War, the car division of the Bristol Aeroplane Company was formed, later becoming Bristol Cars Limited. Bristol had only one sales showroom, on the corner of Kensington High Street and Holland Road in London. It was always a low-volume manufacturer; the most recent published official production figures were for 1982, which stated that 104 cars were produced in that year.
