Andry Laffita
Andry Laffita Fernández (born March 26, 1978) is a retired Cuban amateur boxer. He won the silver medal at the 2005 World Amateur Boxing Championships. At the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, he won a silver medal in the flyweight class. Career In 1996 Laffita won the world junior championship. From 1999 to 2001 he was suspended for use of steroids. Laffita rose to prominence after Olympic champion Yuriorkis Gamboa moved out of his weight class. During the 2005 World Amateur Boxing Championships in Mianyang, China Laffita defeated Somjit Jongjohor, Violito Payla, Juan Carlos Payano, Jérôme Thomas and Mirat Sarsembayev to reach the final. He lost to Lee Ok-Sung, winning the silver medal. In 2006 and 2007 he was beaten by compatriot Yoandri Salinas in the national championships. Violito Payla (born January 8, 1979, in Cagayan de Oro, Misamis Oriental) is an amateur boxer from the Philippines best known for winning the Asian Games 2006 at flyweight. At the 2002 Asian Games he beat Tulashboy Doniyorov but lost to Noman Karim. He competed at the 2004 Athens Olympics in the flyweight (– 48 kg) division but lost his bout in the round of 32 to Doniyorov of Uzbekistan, 36-26. Payla qualified for the Athens Games by winning the gold medal at the 2004 Asian Amateur Boxing Championships in Puerto Princesa, Philippines. In the final he defeated South Korea's Kim Ki-Suk. McWilliams Arroyo Acevedo (born December 5, 1985) is a Puerto Rican professional boxer who has held the WBC interim flyweight title since February 2021. Khalid "Kal" Yafai ( ar, خالد يافعي; born 11 June 1989) is a British professional boxer who held the WBA super-flyweight title from 2016 to 2020.
