The Church Quarterly Review
''The Church Quarterly Review'' (now abbreviated ''CQR'') was an English journal published by the Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge. It existed independently from 1875 until 1968; in that year it merged with the ''London Quarterly and Holborn Review'', a Methodist journal and became known as ''The Church Quarterly'', which was published until 1971. History It was first published privately in 1875, at the instigation of Richard William Church, then Dean of St Paul's Cathedral, and focused on Church of England and theology issues from a high church perspective. Its original mission statement was "to be worthily representative of the teaching and position of the Church of England", and it advertised itself as "the recognised organ of orthodox opinion for the Church of England". The first issue was published in October 1875, and the first article ("Italy and her Church") was written by William Ewart Gladstone. In 1920, the Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge took over t ...

Proceedings Of The British Academy
The ''Proceedings of the British Academy'' is a series of academic volumes on subjects in the humanities and social sciences. The first volume was published in 1905. Up to 1991, the volumes (appearing annually from 1927) mostly consisted of the texts of lectures and other papers read at the academy, plus obituary notices or "memoirs" of Fellows of the British Academy. From 1992 the ''Proceedings'' became an irregular series through the addition of thematic volumes of papers, typically derived from academic conferences held at the academy. After 2011–2012, the publication of the texts of lectures was transferred to the new online open access ''Journal of the British Academy'', and the publication of obituary notices was transferred to a separate ''Biographical Memoirs of Fellows of the British Academy'' series. The ''Proceedings of the British Academy'' series therefore now focuses on the publication of themed volumes of essays, and is open to proposals from prospective volume edit ...

Paul Sabatier (theologian)
Charles Paul Marie Sabatier (3 or 9 August 1858 – 5 March 1928), was a French clergyman and historian who produced the first modern biography of St. Francis of Assisi. He was nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature five times. Life Sabatier was born at Saint-Michel-de-Chabrillanoux in Ardèche, and was educated at the Protestant Faculty of Theology in Paris. In 1885 he became vicar of St Nicolas, Strasbourg, but in 1889, declining an offer of preferment which was conditional on his becoming a German subject, he was expelled. For four years he was pastor of Saint-Cierge in Ardèche, but had to retire in 1893 due to health concerns. He then devoted himself entirely to historical research, spending much of his time in Italy. He had already produced an edition of the ''Didache'', and in November 1893 published his important ''Life of Francis of Assisi''. This book gave a great stimulus to the study of medieval literary and religious documents, especially of such as are connec ...
