Anand is the administrative centre of Anand District in the state of Gujarat, India. It is administered by Anand Municipality. It is part of the region known as Charotar, consisting of Anand and Kheda districts. Anand is known as Milk Capital of India. It became famous for Amul dairy and its milk revolution by the Amul trinity: Tribhuvandas Patel, Verghese Kurien and H. M. Dalaya.. A WikiProject, or Wikiproject, is a Wikimedia movement affinity group for contributors with shared goals. Khambhat
Khambhat (, ), also known as Cambay, is a city and the surrounding urban agglomeration in Anand district in the Indian States and territories of India, state of Gujarat. It was once an important trading center, but its harbour gradually silted up, and the maritime trade moved to Surat. Khambat lies on an alluvial plain at the north end of the Gulf of Khambhat, noted for the extreme rise and fall of its tides, which can vary as much as thirty feet in the vicinity of Khambat. Dakor
Dakor is a small city and a municipality in Kheda district in the state of Gujarat, India. It is prominent for its grand temple of Shree Ranchhodraiji. Legends; History; Temple architecture Dakor, in its earlier phases as pilgrimage center in Gujarat, was famous for the Danknath temple, a place of shiva worship. Godhra
Godhra is a municipality in Panchmahal district in Indian state of Gujarat. It is the administrative headquarters of the Panchmahal district. Originally the name came from ''gou'' which means "cow" and ''dhara''- which have two meanings depending on how you pronounce the word: 'dharaa' means a feminine thing or person that "holds" something and it usually means"land", and the other pronunciation is 'dhaaraa' in which means "flow". However, the second pronunciation is not popular nor is usually associated with this word. Hence, 'Godhra or Godharaa' means the Land of the Cow. Godhra is widely known in India and internationally for being the starting point of the 2002 Gujarat riots. Anand Railway Station
Anand Junction (station code: ANND) is a major junction located in Anand, Gujarat. It is a junction on the railway line which connects Ahmedabad with Vadodara and Mumbai and was opened in 1901. A 14 mile long broad-gauge line was opened in 1929 connecting Vadtal with Anand Junction and , with 4 platforms benefitting pilgrims visiting the Swaminarayan Temple in Vadtal. Other broad-gauge branches from Anand connect it to Godhra and Cambay.
