An Old-Fashioned Young Man
''An Old-Fashioned Young Man'' is a 1917 American silent drama film directed by Lloyd Ingraham and starring Robert Harron and Colleen Moore. The role was Moore's second credited film appearance and the first lead role of her career. Story Frank Trent (Harron), a young man, goes into politics, but the people he works with are using dirty tricks to defeat Mrs. Burke, the candidate for mayor. They insist her adopted daughter, Margaret (Moore), is her own through an illicit affair. The story angers the chivalrous Frank, who is in love with Margaret, and decides to disprove it, travelling to find proof of her legitimate birth. He is dogged by scoundrels along the way. He learns his own father is actually Mrs. Burke's husband, who abandoned her year earlier believing her to be unfaithful. Frank finds the diary of a long dead doctor, which proves that Margaret's mother is not Mrs. Burke. Frank and Margaret are united and Mrs. Burke wins the election. Lloyd Ingraham
Lloyd Chauncey Ingraham (November 30, 1874 – April 4, 1956) was an American film actor and director. Biography Born in Rochelle, Illinois, Ingraham appeared in more than 280 films between 1912 and 1950, as well as directing more than 100 films between 1913 and 1930. Films for which he is known include ''Scaramouche'' (1923), ''The Padrone's Ward'' (1914) and '' Rainbow Valley'' (1935). He performed in several films with John Wayne including '' Rainbow Valley'' (1935), '' Empty Saddles'' (1936), '' Westward Ho'' (1935), ''The Lonely Trail'' (1936) and ''Conflict'' (1936). He died of pneumonia in the Motion Picture Hospital at Woodland Hills, Los Angeles, California, aged 82. His remains are buried in Chapel of the Pines Crematory. Sam De Grasse
Samuel Alfred De Grasse (June 12, 1875 – November 29, 1953) was a Canadian actor. He was the uncle of cinematographer Robert De Grasse. Biography Samuel Alfred De Grasse was born in Bathurst, New Brunswick to Lange De Grasse (1828–1891) and Helene ( Comeau; 1836-?), both of French-Canadian descent. He trained to be a dentist, and married Annie McDonnell in 1904. Their daughter, Clementine Bell, was born in 1906. Annie died in 1909 while giving birth to another daughter, Olive, who also died. In 1910, Samuel was practicing dentistry and he and his daughter Clementine were living in Providence, Rhode Island along with his older sister, Mrs. Clementine Fauchy, and her 14-year-old son, Jerome Fauchy. He married British actress Ada Fuller Golden and became a step-father to her three children. His own elder brother, Joe, went into the fledgling movie business and Sam decided to also give it a try.
