AnTrop
AnTrop () is a Russian record label and production center founded by Andrei Tropillo. The name of the label is made up of the first letters of his first and last name. AnTrop was established unofficially in 1979 as an art laboratory and a recording studio. The first high-quality recordings of Russian rock groups such as Mashina Vremeni, Aquarium, Kino, Alisa, and Nol were recorded and published in Tropillo's studio. History In 1976, Andrei Tropillo first attempted to set up a small record factory in a room rented from the Geophysics department of Leningrad State University. He eventually replaced his plans for setting up a record factory with plans to build a recording studio. Throughout the late 1970s, Tropillo managed bands and staged concerts, using the money earned from organizing concerts to buy technical equipment for sound recording. Andrei Vladimirovich Tropillo (russian: links=no, Андрей Владимирович Тропилло; 21 March 1951, Leningrad) is a Soviet and Russian record producer, music publisher, sound engineer, founder of the label AnTrop (""), and rock musician. Biography Tropillo first became involved in the Soviet rock scene in the 1970s. In 1976, he initially attempted to set up a small record factory in a room rented from his then-employer, the Geophysics department of Leningrad University. He also organized concerts for several bands, including Mashina Vremeni, and used the income to buy technical equipment for sound recording. Tropillo later started working part-time at the House of Pioneers in the Krasnogvardeysky District of Leningrad, teaching members of the Young Pioneers about sound recording and giving guitar lessons. Mify () are a rock band formed in Leningrad in 1966. History 1966-1967: The Red Roosters The history of the group began in September 1966, when Sergey Danilov and Gennadiy Barikhnovskiy were both eighth-graders at School No. 216 in the Kirovsky District of Leningrad. In the midst of Beatlemania and the popularity of rock and roll, they decided to start their own group. In one of their early performances as a duet, they played music from the film ''Lyudi nad oblakami'' () at a school event. Soon after, Dmitry Zadvornov, then a freshman, joined the group as a vocalist. In the summer of 1966, the group was joined by bassist Pyotr “Pete” Bezdudnov, a student of the neighboring School No. 501, and drummer Valeriy Sorokin, a classmate of the group’s founders. Zadvornov suggested naming the group “The Red Roosters” after Willie Dixon's blues standard “Little Red Rooster”, which he knew from The Rolling Stones' rendition. Kino (band)
Kino (russian: Кино, lit=cinema, film, ) was a Soviet rock band formed in Leningrad in 1982, considered to be one of, if not the, greatest rock band in the history of Russian music. The band was co-founded and headed by Viktor Tsoi, who wrote the music and lyrics for almost all of the band's songs. Over the course of eight years, Kino released over 90 songs spanning over seven studio albums, as well as releasing a few compilations and live albums. The band's music was also widely circulated in the form of bootleg recordings through the underground magnitizdat distribution scene. Viktor Tsoi died in a car accident in 1990. Shortly after his passing, the band broke up after releasing their final album, consisting of songs that Tsoi and the group were working on in the months before his death. In 2019, the band announced a reunion with concerts planned in the fall of 2020 for the first time in 30 years, however they were later postponed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. ...
