Amstelveenseweg Metro Station
Amstelveenseweg is an Amsterdam Metro station in the south of Amsterdam, Netherlands. The station opened in 1997 and is served by line 50 and 51 (Isolatorweg - Gein & Centraal Station - Isolatorweg). Amstelveenseweg station is an "important" transit point as the metro crosses several bus and tram lines. Changes to the station and its surroundings were made in 2022 to make transiting easier and safer. The station lies in the south of the city and serves as the metro station for many offices, the VU University Medical Center and Olympic Stadium. The metro station is only accessible with an OV-chipkaart or GVB Travel Pass. In January 2012, a gas leak at the metro station halted the tram and metro traffic, as well as all trains between Amsterdam Bijlmer station and Schiphol Airport. Amsterdam Bijlmer ArenA (; abbreviation: Asb), previously named Amsterdam Bijlmer (1971–2006), is a railway station in the Bijlmermeer neighbourhood of '' stadsdeel'' (borough) Amsterdam-Zuidoost in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The station has five platforms and eight tracks; two for the Amsterdam Metro and six train tracks, along with a bus station. Train services are operated by Nederlandse Spoorwegen. History Originally opened on 24 May 1971, the station has been rebuilt twice. In July 2007, a large part of the rebuilding was completed and on 17 November 2007 the station was fully opened. Connexxion is a large Public transport in the Netherlands, public transport company in the Netherlands, operating in the west, middle, east and southwest parts of the country. It is owned by Transdev and Bank Nederlandse Gemeenten. It is a subsidiary of Transdev Netherlands. Schiphol Airport railway station (previously Schiphol until 12 December 2015) is a major passenger railway station in Haarlemmermeer, Netherlands. It is located directly beneath the terminal complex of Amsterdam Airport Schiphol and is operated by the Nederlandse Spoorwegen. The OV-chipkaart (short for ''openbaar vervoer chipkaart'', meaning ''public transport chipcard'') is a contactless smart card system used for all public transport in the Netherlands. Olympic Stadium (Amsterdam)
The Olympic Stadium (Dutch: ''Olympisch Stadion'', ) is a sporting venue which was used as the main stadium for the 1928 Summer Olympics in Amsterdam. The venue is currently used mostly for athletics, other sports events and concerts. When completed, the stadium had a capacity of 31,600. Following the completion of the rival De Kuip stadium in Rotterdam in 1937, the Amsterdam authorities increased the capacity of the Olympic Stadium to 64,000 by adding a second ring to the stadium. In 1987 the stadium was listed as a national monument. AFC Ajax used the Olympic Stadium for international games until 1996, when the Amsterdam Arena, since 2018 renamed Johan Cruyff Arena, was completed. VU University Medical Center Amsterdam ( nl, VU Medisch Centrum or VUmc) is the university hospital affiliated with the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.
