Amigos X Siempre
''Amigos x siempre'' (English title: ''Friends 4 Ever'') is a Mexican children's telenovela produced by Rosy Ocampo for Televisa that premiered on January 10, 2000 and ended on June 16, 2000. Adriana Fonseca (later replaced by Lourdes Reyes) and Ernesto Laguardia starred as protagonists, Belinda and Martín Ricca starred as child protagonists, while Odiseo Bichir, Rebeca Mankita and the leading actor Germán Robles starred as antagonists. The leading actress Carmen Montejo starred as stellar performance. The story is set at a prestigious, but rigid and repressive school called Instituto Vidal. Its strict owner and headmistress, Julia Vidal, was once kind but has now turned into a bitter woman following the death of her husband and her daughter, Laura. Her granddaughter, Ana, a very sweet and intelligent 10-year-old, also has been affected by the death. A telenovela is a type of a television serial drama or soap opera produced primarily in Latin America. The word combines ''tele'' (for "television") and ''novela'' (meaning "novel"). Similar drama genres around the world include '' teleserye'' (Philippines), '' téléroman'' (Canada, specifically Quebec), and ''sinetron'' (Indonesia). Commonly described using the American colloquialism Spanish soap opera, many telenovelas share some stylistic and thematic similarities to the soap opera familiar to the English-speaking world. The 19th TVyNovelas Awards were an academy of special awards to the best soap operas and TV shows. The awards ceremony took place on May 8, 2001, in Mexico D.F. The ceremony was televised in Mexico by Canal de las Estrellas.
