Satiric Misspelling
A satiric misspelling is an intentional misspelling of a word, phrase or name for a rhetorical purpose. This can be achieved with intentional malapropism (e.g. replacing ''erection'' for ''election''), enallage (giving a sentence the wrong form, eg. "we was robbed!"), or simply replacing a letter with another letter (for example, in English, ''k'' replacing ''c''), or symbol (''$'' replacing ''s''). Satiric misspelling is found widely today in Internet slang, informal writing on the Internet, but is also made in some serious Political philosophy, political writing that opposes the status quo. ''K'' replacing ''c'' In political writing Replacing the letter ''c'' with ''k'' in the first letter of a word was used by the Ku Klux Klan during its early years in the mid-to-late 19th century. The concept is continued today within the group. For something similar in the writing of groups opposed to the KKK, see , below. In the 1960s and early 1970s in the United States, the Yippies so ...

Amerika (miniseries)
''Amerika'' is an American television miniseries that was 1987 in television, broadcast in 1987 on American Broadcasting Company, ABC. The miniseries inspired a novelization entitled ''Amerika: The Triumph of the American Spirit''. ''Amerika'' starred Kris Kristofferson, Mariel Hemingway, Sam Neill, Robert Urich, and a 17-year-old Lara Flynn Boyle in her first major role. ''Amerika'' was about life in the United States after a coup d'état, bloodless takeover engineered by the Soviet Union.Lometti, Guy "Amerika", in Horace Newcomb, ''Encyclopedia of Television''. London, Routledge, 2005. (pp. 104–105) Not wanting to depict the actual takeover, ABC Entertainment president, Brandon Stoddard, set the miniseries ten years after the event, focusing on the demoralized U.S. people a decade after the Soviet conquest. The intent, he later explained, was to explore the U.S. spirit under such conditions, not to portray the conflict of the Soviet coup. Described in promotional mater ...

USS America (ID-3006)
USS ''America'' (ID-3006) was a troop transport for the United States Navy during World War I. She was launched in 1905 as SS ''Amerika'' by Harland and Wolff in Belfast for the Hamburg America Line of Germany. As a passenger liner, she sailed primarily between Hamburg and New York. On 14 April 1912, ''Amerika'' transmitted a wireless message about icebergs near the same area where RMS ''Titanic'' struck one and sank less than three hours later. At the outset of the war, ''Amerika'' was docked at Boston; rather than risk seizure by the British Royal Navy, she remained in port for the next three years. Hours before the American entry into World War I, ''Amerika'' was seized and placed under control of the United States Shipping Board (USSB). Later transferred to the U.S. Navy for use as a troop transport, she was initially commissioned as USS ''Amerika'' with Naval Registry Identification Number 3006 (ID-3006), but her name was soon Anglicized to ''America''. As ''America'' ...

SS Celtic (1872)
SS ''Celtic'' was an ocean liner built for the White Star Line by shipbuilders Harland and Wolff of Belfast. The ''Celtic'' (later the ''Amerika''), the first of two White Star ships to bear the name, was the second of two ''Oceanic''-class liners commissioned by White Star, following the success of their first four steamships (the ''Adriatic'' being the earlier of the new pair). The new ship was originally proposed to be named ''Arctic'', but as the American Collins Line had a paddle-wheel steamer with that name (it sank in 1854) the White Star managers changed their minds, and settled on the name ''Celtic''. ''Celtic'' was one of six liners built for White Star to allow the line to operate a mail service across the Atlantic. (As the ships had a five week turnaround, five ships were needed to allow a weekly service, with the sixth ship acting as a spare). ''Celtic'' was a duplicate of ''Adriatic'' and like ''Adriatic'', was larger than the first four ships. ''Celtic'' was ...

Führersonderzug
The ''Führersonderzug'' (from German: "Führer's special train") was Adolf Hitler's personal train. It was named ''Führersonderzug "Amerika"'' in 1940, and in January 1943, was renamed the ''Führersonderzug "Brandenburg"''. The train served as a headquarters until the Balkans Campaign. Afterwards, the train was not used as Führer Headquarters (''Führerhauptquartier)'', however Hitler continued to travel on it throughout the war between Berlin, Berchtesgaden, the ''Wolfsschanze'' and his other military headquarters. Usage Before the first permanent ''Führer'' Headquarters ''Felsennest'' was used in May 1940, the ''Führersonderzug'' served as a mobile headquarters. Hitler and his entourage used this train to visit various fronts and theaters of war. For safety, a front train and rear train were used to prevent any possible attack. The train was originally named ''Führersonderzug "Amerika"'', purportedly because Hitler wanted to pay homage to the European conquest of the Ame ...

Amerika Bomber
The ''Amerikabomber'' () project was an initiative of the German Ministry of Aviation (''Reichsluftfahrtministerium'') to obtain a long-range strategic bomber for the ''Luftwaffe'' that would be capable of striking the United States (specifically New York City) from Germany, a round-trip distance of about . The concept was raised as early as 1938, but advanced plans for such a long-range strategic bomber design did not begin to appear before ''Reichsmarschall'' Hermann Göring until early 1942. Various proposals were put forward, but these plans were all eventually abandoned as they were too expensive, too reliant on rapidly-diminishing materiel and production capacity, and/or technically unfeasible. Background According to Albert Speer's book, '' Spandau: The Secret Diaries'', Adolf Hitler was fascinated with the idea of New York City in flames. In 1937, Willy Messerschmitt hoped to win a lucrative contract by showing Hitler a prototype of the Messerschmitt Me 264 that was bei ...

Messerschmitt Me 264
The Messerschmitt Me 264 was a long-range strategic bomber developed during World War II for the German ''Luftwaffe'' as its main strategic bomber. The design was later selected as Messerschmitt's competitor in the ''Reichsluftfahrtministerium''s (the German Air Ministry) ''Amerikabomber'' programme, for a strategic bomber capable of attacking New York City from bases in France or the Azores. Three prototypes were built but production was abandoned to allow Messerschmitt to concentrate on fighter production and the Junkers Ju 390 was selected in its place. Development continued as a maritime reconnaissance aircraft instead. Development The origin of the Me 264 design came from Messerschmitt's long-range reconnaissance aircraft project, the P.1061, of the late 1930s. A variant on the P.1061 was the P.1062 of which three prototypes were built, with only two "engines" to the P.1061's four, but they were, in fact, the more powerful Daimler-Benz DB 606 "power systems", each comprisi ...
