Ambiciosa (1953 Film)
''Ambiciosa'' (English: ''Ambitious'') is a Mexican drama film directed by Ernesto Cortazar. It was released in 1953 starring Meche Barba and Fernando Fernández. Plot Estela Durán (Meche Barba) is a young Cuban woman of humble origin, who lives with her nanny Mama Irene (Fedora Capdevila). Estela despises poverty. One day she meets a talent scout for a film production company in Mexico. The two strike up an affair, causing the separation of the talent scouts with his wife. Estela has no interest in formalizing with him, but only for an opportunity in film. Arriving in Mexico is related to Oscar (Crox Alvarado), one of the partners of the producer who would meet her whims to get into trouble because of the debutante. Estela is able to snatch the characters to other actresses provided to meet her target. Meche Barba
Meche Barba (born Mercedes Barba Feito; September 24, 1922 – January 14, 2000) was an American-born Mexican film actress and dancer of the Golden age of Mexican cinema in the 1940s and 1950s. She was considered one of the icons of the "Rumberas film". Early life Mercedes Barba Feito was born in New York City. She was born to Antonio Barba, a Spanish circus actor and a Mexican mother, Victoria Feito. The Barba family decided to go to Mexico to register her a citizen a few weeks after Meche's birth. She began her career in Mexico City's tent theaters at the age of six. Due to her father's illness, she started working at a young age, alongside her sister Carmen Barba, who by her beauty, was hired by entrepreneurs of the most famous tent theaters for various events. Fernando Fernández (actor)
Fernando Fernández "El Crooner de México" (1916–1999) was a Mexican actor, singer and director. He was born on November 9, 1916, in Monterrey, Mexico, and died in Mexico City, Mexico, on November 24, 1999. Fernando was the son of Eloisa Reyes. He was brother of the film director Emilio Fernández and actor Jaime Fernández and cousin to Emilio Fernández. He was married to singer Lupita Palomera, who died in 2008. Fernando Fernández was known as "the Crooner of Mexico." Fernández first began singing at radio station XEH in Monterrey in 1933, then moved on to radio station XEN located in Mexico City, Mexico, and then later at radio station XEB also located in Mexico City. Fernández returned to Monterrey at his father's request and became a producer at radio station XET, then worked at radio station XET in Mexico City. Cruz Pío Socorro Alvarado Bolado (3 May 1910 – 30 January 1984), known professionally as Crox Alvarado, was a Mexican actor who appeared in over 90 films.
