Alys Beach is an unincorporated planned community in Walton County, Florida, United States directly off of CR 30A, on the Gulf Coast. Alys Beach plan was designed by Duany Plater-Zyberk & Company. The village is approximately . It was named after Alys Stephens (died 2004), the wife of Elton B. Stephens, who purchased the land in the 1970s and began developing the land in 2004. All of the houses are required to have a white color. Location Alys Beach is located on the Gulf of Mexico in southeastern Walton County. U.S. Route 98 and County Road 30A are the main roads that run through the community. Via County Road 30A, Rosemary Beach is less than southeast, and Seaside is west. The Alys Robinson Stephens Performing Arts Center (ASC) is a performing arts facility located on the campus of the University of Alabama at Birmingham ( UAB). It hosts over 250,000 people for more than 300 diverse events annually. The ASC is the center for entertainment and arts education in Birmingham and Central Alabama. Walton County School District is a school district headquartered in DeFuniak Springs, Florida. Its boundary is that of Walton County. History From the to the 2017-2018 school year to the 2021-2022 school year, the school district received "A" ratings from the Florida Department of Education based on state testing measures. As of 2022, the district had the third highest accountability scores of Florida school districts, and was on the state's "High Academic Performance" list.
