The Alor Setar City Council ( ms, Majlis Bandaraya Alor Setar, abbreviated MBAS) is the city council which administers the city of Alor Setar in the state of Kedah, Malaysia. This council was established after the city was officially granted city status on 21 December 2003. Alor Setar
Alor Setar ( Jawi: الور ستار, Kedahan: ''Loqstaq'') is the state capital of Kedah, Malaysia. It is the second-largest city in the state after Sungai Petani and one of the most-important cities on the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia. It is home to the third-tallest telecommunication tower in Malaysia, the Alor Setar Tower. Its location along the main travel corridor from Malaysia to Thailand has long made it a major transportation hub in the northern Malay Peninsula. Alor Setar sits along the country's longest expressway, located from Kuala Lumpur and north of George Town, Penang. Kedah
Kedah (), also known by its honorific Darul Aman (Islam), Aman and historically as Queda, is a States and federal territories of Malaysia, state of Malaysia, located in the northwestern part of Peninsular Malaysia. The Pokok Sena District is a district and parliamentary constituency in Kedah, Malaysia. It is the 12th district of Kedah which was formerly a subdistrict of Kota Setar, about 20 km east of Alor Setar. The declaration of the 24,000ha district with a population of 50,000 was made by the Sultan of Kedah, Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah in conjunction with his 81st birthday celebrations in January 2009 (also in commemorating the golden jubilee anniversary of his reign from 1958-2008).
