Allianshallen is an indoor arena in Uppsala, Sweden, used mostly for floorball. It is the home arena of FBC Uppsala and of the women's team of IK Sirius IBK, while the men's team use Fyrishov as their home arena. Allianshallen has been used as an indoor arena since January 1999, in a building which was formerly owned by publisher Almqvist & Wiksell Almqvist & Wiksell is a former Swedish printing and publishing company. Floorball
Floorball is a type of floor hockey with five players and a goalkeeper in each team. Men and women play indoors with sticks and a plastic ball with holes. Matches are played in three twenty-minute periods. The sport of bandy also played a role in the game's development. The game was invented in Sweden in the late 1960s. The basic rules were established in 1979 when the first floorball club in the world, Sala IBK, from Sala, was founded in Sweden. Official rules for matches were first written down in 1981. The sport is organized internationally by the International Floorball Federation (IFF). As of 2019, there were about 377,000 registered floorball players worldwide, up from around 300,000 in 2014. Fyrishov
Fyrishov is the largest arena in Uppsala and is Sweden's fourth most visited, specialising in swimming, sports events, meetings and recreation. The facility includes areas for indoor sports, summer sport and a waterpark with waterslides, 50-metre pool, training pool, relaxation area and an outdoor swimming pool. Fyrishov AB also operates the Gottsundabadet swimming pool with a 25-metre pool, a 10-metre children's pool and gym. Fyrishov is the home arena for Uppsala Basket in the Swedish basketball league (Swedish Basketligan).
