Allan Bertil Almqvist (29 August 1902 – 16 May 1972), nicknamed Bertila and Trallgöken, was a Swedish writer and illustrator. Carl Jonas Love Ludvig Almqvist (28 November 1793 – 26 September 1866) was a Swedish author, romantic poet, romantic critic of political economy, realist, composer and social critic. Biography Carl Jonas Love Almqvist was born in Stockholm, Sweden. He was the son of War Commissioner Karl Gustav Almqvist (1768–1846) and Birgitta Lovisa Gjörwell (1768–1806), daughter of journalist and editor Carl Christoffer Gjörwell Sr. (1731–1811). Almqvist's younger half-brother was Director-General Gustavus Fridolf Almquist (1814–1886), who was the father of Agnes Hammarskjöld. He studied at Uppsala University and then worked as a clerk in Stockholm. In 1823 he gave up his post, and in the autumn of the following year moved to Adolfsfors-Köla in northern Värmland where he and some friends, inspired by Jean-Jacques Rousseau, intended to live out a rural idyll. Ester Almqvist
Ester Dorothea Almqvist (3 November 1869 – 11 June 1934) was a Swedish artist who was a pioneer of Expressionist painting in Sweden. Family and education Almqvist was born in Bromma but spent her childhood in Stockholm, where her parents taught in a school for Christian missionaries. She is the female artist who is represented with most artworks in the collections of Malmö Konstmuseum, a total of 2,083 pieces. She had specified in her will that her collection of oil and watercolour paintings, charcoal, pastel and ink drawings, graphic pages and sketchbooks should be donated to that particular museum. Her father, a priest, died when she was nine. Her mother worked as a private tutor and book seller for the sake of providing for her family. Ingrid Margareta Almqvist (10 October 1927 – 9 November 2017) was a Swedish javelin thrower. She competed at the 1948, 1956 and 1960 Summer Olympics and finished in 10th, 5th and 14th place, respectively. She placed 8th–10th at the European championships of 1950–1958. Almqvist won 15 Swedish javelin titles in 1947, 1949–52 and 1954–64. Johan Magnus Almqvist
Johan Magnus Almqvist (September 6, 1799 – October 9, 1873) was a Swedish theologian and parliamentarian. Biography Almqvist was born in Stockholm, Sweden, to civil servant and vicar and Gustava Brandelius. He began his studies at Uppsala University in 1819 and thereafter studied at Lund University, receiving his master's degree in philosophy in 1823. The following year he was ordained. In 1830, Almqvist became vicar of Skärstad Church near Jönköping and remained so until his death. From 1844 to 1866 he was a contractual provost and member of the Riksdag of the Estates. As a politician, he was a liberal and belonged to the opposition party within the clergy against its conservative majority. With regard to criminal law, inheritance law, schools, etc., he belonged to the reformists and voted for the representation bill in the 1865 Riksdag. Ludvig Almqvist
Ludvig Teodor Almqvist (4 January 1818 in Gränna, Sweden – August 26, 1884, on the island of Selaön), a Sweden, Swedish politician, was the son of Sven Johan Almqvist, vicar and priest. He served as the Minister for Civil Service Affairs in Louis Gerhard De Geer, Louis De Geer’s first cabinet (1856–1860). In 1867, he was elected to be first deputy speaker of the Upper House of the Swedish Parliament. On November 2, 1860, he took his place as member of the Supreme Court of Sweden. In 1867, he became Chief Justice of the Svea Court of Appeal; in 1870, he became a member of the Supreme Court of Sweden again. Almqvist served as Minister for Justice in Louis Gerhard De Geer, Louis De Geer’s second cabinet (1879–1880). He was made Knight of the Order of the Seraphim in 1882. Niklas Almqvist (born 26 January 1977), better known by his stage name Nicholaus Arson, is the lead guitarist and backup vocalist of the Swedish garage rock band The Hives, of which his brother Pelle Almqvist, Howlin' Pelle is the lead singer. Per "Pelle" Almqvist (born 29 May 1978), also known as Howlin' Pelle Almqvist, is a Swedish singer and songwriter. He is the lead singer of garage rock band The Hives. Biography Almqvist was born to a doctor father and a teacher mother. Pontus Skule Erik Almqvist (born 10 July 1999) is a Swedish professional footballer who plays for Polish club Pogoń Szczecin. He is also signed to Russian club Rostov, but that contract is suspended. He is deployed as a winger (most often on the right side) or centre-forward.
