All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship 1941
The 1941 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship was the 55th staging of the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, the Gaelic Athletic Association's premier inter county, inter-county hurling tournament. The championship ended on 28 September 1941. Limerick GAA, Limerick were the 1940 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, defending champions, however, they were defeated by Cork GAA, Cork in the provincial series. The championship was won by Cork who secured the title following a 5-11 to 0-6 defeat of Dublin GAA, Dublin in the All-Ireland final. This was their 12th All-Ireland title, their first in ten championship seasons. Connie Buckley
Connie "Sonny" Buckley (24 November 1915 – 27 January 2009) was an Irish hurler who played as a centre-forward for the Cork senior team. Buckley made his first appearance for the team during the 1934 championship and was a regular member of the starting fifteen until his retirement after the 1941 championship. During that time he won one All-Ireland medal, one Munster medal and two National League medals. An All-Ireland runner-up on one occasion, Buckley captained the team to the All-Ireland title in 1941. At club level Buckley was an eight-time county club championship medalist with Glen Rovers. His brother Din Joe won five All-Ireland medals and a third brother, Jack, was an All-Ireland medalist as a non-playing substitute in 1942. The Munster GAA Hurling Senior Championship, known simply as the Munster Championship, is an annual inter-county hurling competition organised by the Munster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). It is the highest inter-county hurling competition in the province of Munster, and has been contested every year since the 1888 championship. The championship began on 1 May 1932 and ended on 4 September 1932. Cork were the defending champions, however, they were defeated in the provincial series of games. Kilkenny won the title following a 3–3 to 2–3 victory over Clare in the final.
