Alison Margaret Knowles (born 27 March 1982 in Bournemouth) is a British rower who competed at the 2008 Summer Olympics. Rowing career Knowles competed in the women's eight at the 2008 Olympic Games but could not row in the final due to illness. Bournemouth () is a coastal resort town in the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole council area of Dorset, England. Lindsey Maguire (born 15 January 1982) is a British rower who competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics. Personal life Maguire was born in Edinburgh, Scotland. Her mother is former long jumper, Moira Walls. Maguire studied maths and psychology at the University of Birmingham. She then completed a Masters in Developmental Psychopathology at Durham University (Ustinov College) in 2004. Rowing is the act of propelling a human-powered watercraft using the sweeping motions of oars to displace water and generate reactional propulsion. Victoria Thornley (born 30 November 1987) is a Welsh rower. She won a silver medal for Great Britain with Katherine Grainger in the women's double sculls at the 2016 Summer Olympics. She was also a member of the Great Britain team that finished fifth in the women's eight at the 2012 Summer Olympics, and finished fourth in the single sculls at the 2020 Summer Olympics.
