Alice Barnes
Alice Barnes (born 17 July 1995) is an English racing cyclist, who rides for UCI Women's WorldTeam . Career Barnes enjoyed success at the UK School Games in Sheffield in 2011, where she not only won the individual mountain bike event, but also rode solo in the relay, beating the fastest of the four-rider teams by several seconds. She joined the British Cycling Olympic Academy Programme in 2013. Barnes was selected for the England team for the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, where she finished fifth in the mountain bike race. She also rode at the 2014 UCI Road World Championships. She finished second to Lizzie Armitstead in the elite women's race at the 2015 British National Road Race Championships in Lincoln, becoming national under-23 champion in the process. Later that year she was part of the Great Britain team that helped to deliver Armitstead to the World Championship elite road race title in Richmond, Virginia. 2018 European Road Cycling Championships
The 2018 European Road Cycling Championships was the 24th running of the European Road Cycling Championships, and took place from 12 to 15 July 2018 in Brno, Czech Republic for the under-23 and junior events, and from 5 to 9 August 2018 in Glasgow, United Kingdom for the elite events. The event consisted of a total of 6 road races and 6 time trials, regulated by the Union Européenne de Cyclisme (UEC). The elite portion of the Championships in Glasgow formed a section of both a first unified UEC European Cycling Championships, and the first multi-sport European Championships. Cycling At The 2014 Commonwealth Games
Cycling is one of seven optional sports that were included in the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Cycling has appeared consistently since their first appearance at the 1934 British Empire Games in London with track and road events at every Games since and mountain biking being included from 2002. The track cycling events were hosted at the newly built Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome in Glasgow's East End, whilst the mountain bike competitions utilised the purpose built Cathkin Braes Mountain Bike Trails. The road race and time trial events took place on public road circuits in Glasgow City Centre and North Lanarkshire respectively, with both starting and finishing at Glasgow Green. The British National Cyclo-cross Championships are held annually. The winners of each event are awarded with a symbolic white cycling jersey featuring blue and red stripes, which can be worn by the rider at other cyclo-cross events in the country to show their status as national champion. Melissa Lowther (born 15 May 1996) is an English professional racing cyclist, who last rode for UCI Women's Team . Lowther won the Under-23 British National Road Race Championships in 2017. The British National Track Championships are held annually and organised by British Cycling (formerly the British Cycling Federation).
