Ali Bin Hamad al-Attiyah Arena ( ar, صالة علي بن حمد العطية), is an indoor sports arena in Doha, Qatar. It was built for the Qatar Olympic Committee, in order to host the 2015 World Men's Handball Championship. After the tournament, the management of the arena was transferred to Al-Sadd Sports Club, to become the home venue for Al Sadd Handball Team. 2015 World Men's Handball Championship
The 2015 World Men's Handball Championship was the 24th staging of the World Men's Handball Championship, organised by the International Handball Federation (IHF). The final tournament was held for the first time in Qatar, from 15 January to 1 February 2015. The Qatari bid was selected over those of Norway, Poland and France after a vote by the IHF Council on 27 January 2011, in Malmö, Sweden. This was the third time that the World Championship was hosted in the Middle East And North Africa, after Egypt in 1999 and Tunisia in 2005. France won the final against Qatar 25–22 to win their fifth title, a first in handball history while Qatar won their first ever medal. Al Sadd Handball Team ( ar, فريق السد لكرة اليد) is the handball team of Al Sadd SC, based in the capital city of Doha, Qatar. It currently competes in the Qatar Handball League (QHL). The team is one of the most successful in all of Asia, winning the Asian Club League Handball Championship a record 5 times. History Al Sadd Handball Team was formed shortly after the formation of the club in 1969. Since then, they have dominated the handball scene in Qatar, winning a record number of domestic trophies. 2015 AIBA World Boxing Championships
The 2015 AIBA World Boxing Championships was held at the Ali Bin Hamad Al Attiya Arena in Doha, Qatar from 5 to 18 October 2015. This was a qualifying tournament for the 2016 Summer Olympics. Opening ceremony World pro boxing champions Mike Tyson, Manny Pacquiao and Amir Khan, were the celebrity guests for the event. 2016 Futsal Intercontinental Cup
The 2016 Futsal Intercontinental Cup is the 17th edition of the world's premier club futsal tournament, and the 11th edition under FIFA recognition. It is organized by the Qatar Football Association in association with the LNFS, Liga Nacional de Fútbol Sala. Clube Esportivo e Recreativo Atlântico, Atlântico are the defending champions, but were not invited for this edition. Format In the group stage, teams were drawn into groups of four teams. In each group, teams play against each other in a round-robin mini-tournament. In the knockout stage, the four qualified teams (two from each group) play the semi-finals.
