Alger Centre
Alger Centre is a municipality in Algiers Province, Algeria. It is administratively part of Sidi M'Hamed district, and it has a population of 96,329 as of the 1998 census, which gives it 15 seats in the PMA. Name The name of the municipality is officially bilingual ( French: Alger Centre, ar, الجزائر الوسطى or وسط الجزائر). The French name means "Algiers-Center" and the first version of the Arabic name means Central Algiers, and the later means "Center of Algiers". True to its name, this municipality forms the downtown of Algiers, and the port of Algiers is also located there. Algeria, since December 18, 2019, is divided into 58 wilaya, wilayas (province, provinces). Prior to December 18, 2019, there were 48 provinces. Algiers Province
Algiers Province ( ar, ولاية الجزائر, ', ; french: wilaya d'Alger or ) is a province (wilayah) in Algeria, named after its capital, Algiers, which is also the national capital. It is adopted from the old French department of Algiers and has a population of about 3 million. It is the most densely populated province of Algeria, and also the smallest by area. West Africa Time, or WAT, is a time zone used in west-central Africa. West Africa Time is one hour ahead of Coordinated Universal Time ( UTC+01:00), which aligns it with Central European Time (CET) during winter, and Western European Summer Time (WEST) / British Summer Time (BST) during summer. People's Municipal Assembly
The People's Municipal Assembly (PMA; Arabic: ), is the political body governing the municipalities of Algeria. It is composed of an assembly (municipal council) elected on universal suffrage for five years. This assembly further elects a president, the ''president of the People's Municipal Assembly'', which is the Algerian equivalent of a mayor.
