Aleš Kunaver
Aleš Kunaver was a Slovenian alpinist and tour guide, born June 23rd, 1935 in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Kunaver died November 2nd, 1984 in a helicopter accident on the slope of Vrš above Blejska Dobrava. Kunaver was an engineer by profession as well as a top mountaineer, mountain rescuer, lecturer in five languages, author of numerous articles and co-author of books on mountaineering, the first Yugoslav Himalaya film cameraman, longtime head of the Commission for Expeditions to Foreign Mountaineers of the Alpine Association of Slovenia, member of the mountaineering society of Yugoslavia, representative of Yugoslavia to the International Climbing and Mountaineering Federation (UIAA) and a candidate for President of the Alpines Commission at this international institution in which he did not live to see the elections. Ljubljana
Ljubljana (also known by other historical names) is the capital and largest city of Slovenia. It is the country's cultural, educational, economic, political and administrative center. During antiquity, a Roman city called Emona stood in the area. Ljubljana itself was first mentioned in the first half of the 12th century. Situated at the middle of a trade route between the northern Adriatic Sea and the Danube region, it was the historical capital of Carniola, one of the Slovene-inhabited parts of the Habsburg monarchy. Trisul
Trisul is a group of three Himalayan mountain peaks of western Kumaun, Uttarakhand, with the highest (Trisul I) reaching 7120m. The three peaks resemble a trident - in Sanskrit, Trishula, trident, is the weapon of Shiva. The Trishul group forms the southwest corner of the ring of peaks enclosing the Nanda Devi Sanctuary, about west-southwest of Nanda Devi itself.
