Alexandros, Greece
Alexandros ( el, Αλέξανδρος) is a village and a community of the municipal unit of Lefkada (city), Greece in the island of Lefkada. The community includes the villages Nikiana (pop. 724 in 2011), Alexandros (pop. 22) and Kollyvata (pop. 6). Nikiana is situated on the east coast of the island, 6 km east of Karya and 8 km south of Lefkada city. Ionian Islands (region)
The Ionian Islands Region ( el, Περιφέρεια Ιονίων Νήσων, translit=Periféria Ioníon Níson, ) is the smallest by area of the thirteen administrative regions of Greece located in the Ionian Sea. It comprises all the Ionian Islands except Kythera, which, although historically part of the island group, was separated and integrated to the Attica Region. Demographics The population of the Ionian Islands in 2011 was 207,855, decreased by 1.5% compared to the population in 2001. Nevertheless, the region remains the third by population density with 90.1/km2 nationwide, well above the national of 81.96/km2. The most populous of the major islands is Corfu with a population of 104,371, followed by Zante (40,759), Cephalonia (35,801), Leucas (23,693) and Ithaca (3,231). Lefkada ( el, Περιφερειακή ενότητα Λευκάδας) is one of the regional units of Greece. It is part of the modern regions of Greece, region of Ionian Islands (region), Ionian Islands. The capital of the regional unit is the town of Lefkada (city), Lefkada. The regional unit consists of the islands of Lefkada, Meganisi, Kalamos (island), Kalamos, Kastos and several smaller islands, all in the Ionian Sea. Administration The regional unit Lefkada is subdivided into 2 municipalities. These are (number as in the map in the infobox): *Lefkada (1) *Meganisi (2) Prefecture As a part of the 2011 Kallikratis government reform, the regional unit Lefkada was created out of the former prefectures of Greece, prefecture Lefkada ( el, Νομός Λευκάδας). Lefkada ( el, Λευκάδα, ''Lefkáda'', ), also known as Lefkas or Leukas (Ancient Greek and Katharevousa: Λευκάς, ''Leukás'', modern pronunciation ''Lefkás'') and Leucadia, is a Greek island in the Ionian Sea on the west coast of Greece, connected to the mainland by a long causeway and floating bridge. The principal town of the island and seat of the municipality is Lefkada. It is situated on the northern part of the island, approximately 25 minutes by automobile away from Aktion National Airport. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Lefkada, of which it is a municipal unit. It is the capital and main town of the island of Lefkada, located in the northern and northeastern part of the island. The city had a population of 8,673 inhabitants at the 2011 census. Karya, Lefkada
Karya (Greek: Καρυά) is a former municipality on the island of Lefkada, Ionian Islands, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Lefkada, of which it is a municipal unit. It lies in the central part of Lefkada. It has a land area of 30.867 km2 and a population of 871 (2011 census). A large part of the population live in the former municipal seat, the town of Karyá (pop. 589). The village Karya is located on the slopes of ''Pyrgos'' at 500 m above sea level. The highest point in the municipal unit is the mountain Stavrota, elevation 1,158 m. There are four villages in the municipal unit: Karyá, Pigadisánoi (pop. 157), Egklouví (106), and Ammókampos (19).
