Albuquerque Public Schools (APS) is a school district based in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Founded in 1891, APS is the largest of 89 public school districts in the state of New Mexico. In 2010 it had a total of 143 schools with some 95,000 students, making it one of the largest school districts in the United States. APS operates 89 elementary, 27 middle, and 13 high schools, as well as 10 alternative schools. They also own the radio station KANW and co-own the TV stations KNME-TV and KNMD-TV along with the University of New Mexico. APS serves a majority of Bernalillo County. Exceptions include Barton, the county's portion of Manzano Springs, and a section of Sedillo. APS also includes a portion of Sandoval County, where it serves Corrales. Albuquerque High School is a public high school near Downtown Albuquerque, New Mexico, United States. It is a part of the Albuquerque Public Schools district. Enrollment at AHS stands at 1,741. AHS was named the 43rd best high school in the state of New Mexico by ''U.S. News & World Report''. Coronado Unified School District (CUSD) is the public school district for the city of Coronado in San Diego County, California. It includes two high schools, one middle school, and two elementary schools as well as several specialized and unconventional schools. It is governed by a five-member elected board. CUSD includes Coronado High School, Coronado Middle School, Silver Strand Elementary, and Village Elementary. Coronado Elementary School is a historic elementary school in the Barelas neighborhood of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Built in 1936–37 as a Public Works Administration project, it is the city's third-oldest operating elementary school. Coronado School was added to the New Mexico State Register of Cultural Properties and the National Register of Historic Places in 1996. It is a part of Albuquerque Public Schools. History The school was built by the PWA at a cost of $125,000 and opened in 1937. It was designed by Louis G. Hesselden, who was the architect for Albuquerque Public Schools at the time. Coronado operated as an elementary school until 1975, when it was converted to administrative use. Old Albuquerque High School
The Old Albuquerque High School is the historic former campus of Albuquerque High School in Albuquerque, New Mexico. It is located in the Huning Highlands neighborhood and is protected by the city as a historic landmark. It is located on the northeast corner of Central and Broadway NE, at the center of an area that has become known as East Downtown or EDo. The campus comprises five buildings, the oldest of which was built in 1914. After the school moved to a new location in 1974, the old buildings were left abandoned for decades before being renovated as loft apartments in the early 21st century.
