The district, with the vast majority of its land in Sandoval County, serves most of Rio Rancho and almost all of Rio Rancho Estates. A very small portion of the district extends into Bernalillo County. History Prior to 1997 students in the school district attended Albuquerque Public Schools for high school. Rio Rancho High School is a public high school located in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, United States. It is a part of the Rio Rancho Public Schools. History The state rejected the proposal of Rio Rancho High School, however Intel Corp. offered to build the high school instead, which they did and leased it back at $1 per year for 30 years, and when the lease ended, Intel donated the school to a non-profit organization responsible for running the school. It opened in 1997. Previously students in the school district at the high school level attended Albuquerque Public Schools. In April 1997 Rio Rancho High officials stated they had not yet finished development of programs for students with special needs. The ''Albuquerque Journal'' is the largest newspaper in the U.S. state of New Mexico. History The ''Golden Gate'' newspaper was founded in June 1880. In the fall of 1880, the owner of the ''Golden Gate'' died and Journal Publishing Company was created. Journal Publishing changed the paper name to ''Albuquerque Daily Journal'' and issued its first edition of the ''Albuquerque Daily Journal'' on October 14, 1880.
