Albert Walker (Ontario Politician)
Albert Victor "Ab" Walker (October 12, 1910 – August 10, 2001) was a Canadian politician, who represented Oshawa in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1963 to 1967 as a Progressive Conservative member. Political Offices Walker first entered politics as an Alderman in Oshawa, Ontario in 1956. He served on municipal council from 1956 to 1963. While still an Alderman, Walker ran as the PC candidate in the 1963 provincial general election, where he defeated the NDP incumbent, Tommy Thomas. During the 27th Legislative Assembly, Walker served as a backbench member of the majority PC government led by Premier John Robarts. While Walker did not serve in Cabinet, he was active on an average of seven Standing Committees of the Legislature during his term in office. Tommy Thomas (politician)
Thomas David "T.D." Thomas (February 19, 1899 – July 30, 1980) was a politician in Ontario, Canada. He was a CCF member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario. He represented the ridings of Ontario from 1948 to 1955, and Oshawa from 1955 to 1963. Background Thomas, who was known as "Tommy" or by his initials as "T.D. Thomas", was born in Cardiff, Wales in 1899. He emigrated to Canada in 1929 and worked for General Motors of Canada as a toolmaker. He sat Board of Education of the Ontario County Township and was a director of the Oshawa General Hospital from 1952 to 1973. Oshawa is a provincial electoral district in Ontario, Canada, that has been represented in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario since 1955. History In 2015 the provincial districts were updated, and Oshawa gained parts of the city which were previously part of the electoral district of Whitby-Oshawa. The 2018 provincial election was the first in which the new borders were used.
